Some of the recent conflicts between the couple were due to the fact that Michael Halterman didn't seem to be contributing toward childcare.
1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton and her husband Michael Halterman's marriage has reportedly hit the brakes after three long blissful years. The couple has reportedly filed for divorce less than a year after welcoming their second child together. On March 13 in Kentucky, Halterman, 40, filed for divorce from Slaton, 35, according to court papers obtained by US Weekly.
Before making an appearance on the popular TLC program 1000-lb Sisters, Slaton, and Halterman first met each other in high school and dated for a while. The first four seasons of the reality series focused on the couple's blossoming relationship. The two married in 2019, per Entertainment Tonight.

Amy affirmed that Halterman and she had no plans of having any more children before they separated. “I do not want more kids, my family is complete!” she exclusively told US Weekly in February 2023. “As a busy mom, I just take care of them, when they sleep that’s when I get a bath or do other things for myself,” she said.
Recent episodes of the popular TLC program featured some of the couple's conflict, with Slaton, who had just given birth to their youngest boy, becoming irritated with Halterman because he didn't seem to be contributing to anything. “Daddy ain’t doin’ s**t. Sometimes I feel like I got three kids,” she mumbled to herself while filming once, per Yahoo! News. “You’re not supposed to be doing this sh*t by yourself,” says one of Slaton’s older sisters. “You are married and have a husband, and he is supposed to be a dad too.”

The two are parents to Gage, their first son, who was born in November 2020. Glenn, the second child of the now-separated couple, was born in July 2022. When the show premiered, Slaton raved about her husband. “My husband Michael means the world to me. I and Michael are newlywed but we’ve been together for four years now. I can tell him anything and everything. And Michael’s supportive of me helping Tammy,” the YouTube star said during the series premiere.
The mother-of-two raved about getting to watch significant moments from her life unfold on the program. “Looking at Gage, I just see his whole future, as he’s going off to college,” she said in a season 2 episode. “It’s emotional. You can’t talk about [it] because you just love him so much you don’t have words to explain how much you love him.” She added, “Holding Gage for the first time felt surreal. My heart just melted. He was so perfect. His little fingers, his toes. I made this little ball of joy!”
