"When I got on the scale and I saw the scale was at 534.7, I kinda stopped breathing for a second," Tammy said.
Tammy Slaton has been trying to lose weight for a long time now so she could get bariatric surgery, but it's been a struggle. Now, finally, the 36-year-old reality star is down to her goal weight so she can get the weight-loss procedure done. When Tammy entered the weight loss rehab facility in Ohio for the first time, she weighed 717 lbs. She admitted that she was "the most I've ever weighed" but broke down in tears when she learned she had dropped over 180 lbs. Her sisters Amanda and Misty were also around when she learned how much weight she had lost.
"I need to get to 550 lbs. for me to be approved for surgery," Tammy said in Tuesday's episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters, according to PEOPLE. "Until then, I hate getting on a scale. My worst fear is gaining weight. I don't want to disappoint my family or myself." When she stepped on the weighing scale and her doctor gave her the number 534 lbs she was beside herself with excitement. "B— are you serious," Amanda screamed enthusiastically. "For real? Tammy, you see that!"

In a confessional, Amanda said this was what the family has been waiting for. "Tammy's made the goal weight, it might mean she's finally gonna have surgery. She's finally gonna get this and the future looks good," she said, adding that she's happy to see her sister move forward with her and although there are "several other doctors that she has to get approved from but the way I look at it is before we can ever go see those people she had to reach that weight loss goal that Dr. Smith had given her and Tammy's done that," she continued, adding, "She's gonna do the damn thing."
Dr. Eric Smith, Tammy's bariatric surgeon, told her she had to be 550 lbs. if she wanted to get the surgery. "When I got on the scale and I saw the scale was at 534.7, I kinda stopped breathing for a second," Tammy said of the great news, adding, "I'm like 14 lbs. under my goal weight. From over 700, that's a huge drop." Tammy couldn't be more proud of herself and proving her critics wrong. "I did that!" she exclaimed, explaining why she feels this is a huge milestone, "I'm feeling thrilled, proud, excited — just all the emotions. I proved everybody wrong. Everybody that doubted me, I finally got mine! My told-you-so moment!" Misty said she was "so stoked" and proud of her sister.
Tammy is also onto her next chapter in life having married Caleb Willingham in November 2022. The reality star first met Willingham, 39, at the Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and eventually fell in love with him in the same place.
