An unharmed two year-old baby was with her mother for three days after the latter was fatally shot in her own home in Kentucky.  The victim's mother and the baby's grandmother Michelle Stone, discovered her 23-year-old daughter Kierra Stone Gonzalez lying on her apartment living room floor dead with a gunshot wound to the head in her Louisville home on Sept. 21. “I have so many questions, so many questions about why they took my daughter,” said Michelle, according to WLKY. Michelle checked in on her daughter last Wednesday at around noon after a mother's hunch saying something wasn't right. When she got to her apartment on Rangeland Road, her fears were confirmed.  “The first thing I noticed were her hands purple,” Michelle said when she saw her daughter's body on the ground.  Kierra’s 2-year-old daughter began crying soon after she arrived.

The gruesome crime took a more mysterious turn when the baby was discovered unharmed and with a clean diaper. The baby was right next to her mother's body. “That makes me question, even more, how could you take her mother?” Michelle said. “They didn’t kill my granddaughter, she didn’t have any poop stains on her, no pee stains on her. No poop in the house, no pee stains in the house. So we knew that somebody had been in there for three days taking care of her with the momma. My question is how could you take care of my granddaughter and not call the police when you had seen the mother was dead,” said Michelle. The grieving mother and grandmother is determined to find the person responsible and bring them to justice. “She had a good heart and she definitely didn’t deserve what happened to her,” Michelle said.

An investigation is underway with the Louisville Metro Police Department. No arrests have been made so far and officials have not disclosed a suspect or motive in the case. Internet users were saddened by the story with one person commenting, "This is beyond awful! Praying for justice and answer." Another added, "As sad as the it is, I’m so glad the baby wasn’t harmed and taken care of but how horrific." A third shared, "Bless that grieving mother and the grandchild. I hope they get healing, support, answers and peace. This whole story is odd. The question is a great one. Who would take care of the baby and just leave the body? Then what was the motive? I’m happy the baby is alright, but this just…. SMH wow."
