Born in 1911, Baba Vanga gained her powers at 12 after being blinded during a storm.
With 2022 just started, surely you've begun wondering what the new year has in store. The 'Nostradamus of the Balkans' Baba Vanga believed that we should be alert and ready to tackle this year.
Vanga was a blind Bulgarian mystic who predicted the future. Born in 1911, she allegedly gained her powers at age 12 after being blinded during a storm. Although she passed away in 1996 at the age of 85, Vanga made several prophecies, many of which did come true.
One of the most famous predictions came in 1989 when she said two "steel birds" would hit America in a 2001 terror attack. Then 9/11 happened. Per Huffington Post, she also predicted Barack Obama’s presidency, the 2004 Thailand tsunami, the breakup of the Soviet Union, and East and West Germany's reunification.

Although the accuracy of her projections is still debated, Vanga did leave behind predictions that run until 5079, the year the world is believed to end. So let take a look at what the great mystic had to say about 2022. For starters, Vanga claimed that several Asian countries and Australia would be hit with "intense bouts of floods."
While we are still struggling to cope with the coronavirus, Vanga said that a team of researchers will discover a lethal and even deadlier virus in Siberia which had been frozen until now. Now in 2014, an ancient virus did return after remaining dormant for 30,000 years in the Siberian permafrost.
Next, she suggested a drinking water crisis, which doesn't seem that far-fetched given the rising global population. Also, BBC reports that a quarter of the world's population, i.e. 2 billion people, don't have access to safe drinking water. So it's already happening. The clairvoyant also predicted a locust attack that will destroy crops and agricultural land and cause famine in India.
Back in 2020, these crop-devouring insects did hit India and Pakistan, let's hope it doesn't get worse this year. The physic also noted that more people would be glued to their screens and that's definitely not something that we haven't already heard over. What's more, Virtual Reality (VR) usage has considerably increased in recent years and Vanga thinks that in 2022, it will take over.
Now for the last one, Vanga predicted an alien attack. While many believe that aliens have already made contact with us, we are yet to have an Independence Day-type faceoff with them. Coming back to the mystic's forecast, she said an asteroid called "Oumuamua" will be sent by aliens to seek life on earth. But will all the other calamities happening, it's possible that the aliens would just pack their things and leave.
