Harpreet Gill was taken to the hospital in a critical state where she passed away.

Harpreet Kaur Gill, a 40-year-old Sikh woman living in the UK was fatally stabbed multiple times last week and ultimately succumbed to her wounds. According to Global News, the police found Gill at her home on 66th Avenue near 127 Street on December 7, 2022, in a critical state. She was taken to the hospital but Gill did not manage to survive her wounds.

The homicide detectives continued to investigate in order to piece the events which led to the murder and as per the information received by the news outlet, it’s believed that Gill lost her life in an ugly domestic dispute. As per the description of the neighbors, the 40-year-old victim was a mother of three and a teacher as well. However, the police have arrested the husband of Harpreet Kaur Gill on the charges of second-degree murder.
Gill’s 40-year-old husband Navinder Gill was taken into custody at the scene but was released the following day as detectives continued their attempts to collect more evidence related to the case. As per the outlet, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) Sgt. Timothy Pierotti said, "IHIT continues to gather evidence and we’re working to meet the charge approval threshold."
"I know a situation like this where there’s alleged domestic violence can certainly hit a community, so we wanted to give as much information as we can as soon as we possibly could," he added. According to CTV News Vancouver, MJ Norris Elementary School in Surrey sent to the parents of the students which addressed the “tragic loss” suffered by the school community. “A parent at our school was the victim of a serious incident and we are heartbroken for the family. This is a devastating loss,” the letter read.

According to NDTV, the victim’s husband was re-arrested once again on December 15 by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and charged on Friday with the support of the Surrey Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Now, he is due to appear in court on Jan 9, 2023. Harpreet’s relative, Baljinder Kaur launched a GoFundMe campaign and wrote on the community page about Harpreet’s parents and brothers, who reside in India, being devastated upon hearing this unfortunate news and are worried about the future of Harpreet’s children. The community page also read that Harpreet’s family hail from a middle-class background and they are desperately trying to attend her funeral and perform the last rites. The fund they receive from the community will be contributed to carry out the funeral expenses of Harpreet and help her family in India with the airfare.
