The shooting took place in a new neighborhood that is still under construction, where Webster had closed in on a home in February 2022, according to ABC7. But, according to NBC 4, an arrest affidavit shows that at least one of the homes in the neighborhood had a working surveillance camera.

In the video handed over to the cops from the camera, a vehicle driven by Webster's ex-boyfriend, Erik Mitchell Rivas pulled up to the house just after 3 in the morning and stayed around 4:15 am. About an hour later, Webster was found dead.

Police allegedly discovered a ladder against Webster's back fence, according to the arrest affidavit. The ladder was from Rivas' place of business. They also found footprints in the backyard that they believe belong to Rivas.

The affidavit also revealed that Webster and Rivas had dated for several years, but Webster had recently "ended the relationship and was speaking to other men." Her mother told police that her daughter "was scheduled to leave town on or about Aug. 19 to meet a romantic interest in Colorado."

Rivas had reportedly left town after the incident, but by then, cops had issued a BOLO (Be on the lookout). He was later arrested in DeSoto, south of Dallas. "With the assistance of Texas Highway Patrol troopers, DPS aircraft, Fort Worth police, and Dallas police, Rivas was located in the DeSoto area and arrested without incident," officials said.

Rivas has been with one count of murder. He is being held at the Wise County jail on a $500,000 bond. He has not yet entered a plea, and court records do not reflect an attorney authorized to speak on his behalf.

As for Webster, she had recently started working for the Region 16 Education Service Center as a “High Impact Tutoring Learning Leader.” She was previously a third-grade teacher at Oak Dale Elementary. According to her obituary, she was "an avid Softball player, loved to gamble, play bingo which she got from her grandma and attend church. But most of all, Shereena LOVED to spend her time with her beautiful daughter, Oaklyn. Shereena's love for Oaklyn was a beautiful thing to watch. Their bond was and will always be unbreakable and will forever be instilled in Oaklyn."
