A GoFundMe campaign for the family revealed that Bradley's organs were donated "to save the lives of several others in need."
Eight-year-old Bradley Rofer from California was walking on September 1, 2022, with his bike in tow, when he was hit by a truck. He was put on a life support machine, hoping to save his life, but the latest updates from the bereaved family state that the little one has been taken off life support.
Josette Rofer took to Facebook on September 5, 2022, to announce that her son died from the injuries he sustained due to the accident.
"Our beautiful boy Bradley Rofer is now an angel in heaven," Josette wrote in the post.
The announcement came two days after she announced young Bradley would be taken off life support, according to PEOPLE. In the post, Josette called her son "truly special and one of a kind."
"Incredibly loving, giving, empathetic, happy, and fun - always radiating pure joy," she wrote on Sept. 3. "He is a true mensch. He is the best and most perfect son and brother that anyone could ever ask for. He enriched our lives and positively impacted everyone around him and even those who didn't know him personally. He will be in our hearts forever and deeply missed."
Bradley was going across a crosswalk at approximately 7:25 am on the day of the accident when he was hit by a 1999 Ford F-150 in Orange County's Coto de Caza area. The truck driver remained at the site and assisted authorities. The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to investigators, reports Fox LA.
The dejected mom told Orange County Register that her son was walking his bike as she watched him from the car at the time of the accident. He was wearing a helmet, she said, and it was the first time he planned to take his bike to school.
"He was doing everything right," Josette lamented. "Anybody who knew him knows he was an old soul," she added. "I went to him for guidance."
She also shared that when Bradley was six, he sold flowers to collect $3,000 for children with cancer. "That's who he is. Raising money, the flower business—that's all him. He won the empathy award at school," she said.
