You must've come across the phrase, "Not all hero's wear capes" and it stands true. You don't necessarily have to be Superman or the "friendly neighborhood Spiderman" to come to the rescue of others. Take this Amazon driver for example, who became a hero overnight.

Amazon delivery executive, Juan Carlos Flores, started working for the company at the beginning of the pandemic. But in all these days, even after making numerous deliveries, he wasn't ready for what he was going to find on January 25, 2021. According to ABC News, Juan found an abandoned baby on the side of the road while working in Houston's Sunnyside neighborhood on Monday.

As per the authorities, the 5-month-old baby was abandoned in a car seat on the side of the road, after a carjacking incident. Fortunately, Juan, who was making deliveries in the area stumbled upon the baby and understood something was wrong. He said, "When I saw that baby, I wanted to cry because I [said] it’s impossible the baby can be here on the side of the street alone."

The delivery man then found the nearest neighbor and spoke to him about his discovery. The neighbor, who wished to stay anonymous, told ABC13 that when he went outside after Juan rang their bell, he saw the car seat on the ground. He then took the baby and the car seat inside, covered the little one, and called up the police. After Juan was sure that the baby was safe with the neighbor, he went on to finish his work.

On his way back, the Amazon driver saw the officers trying to find the abandoned baby and directed them to the neighbor's house. "I took the police to the house where was the baby, and that's when they told me the baby was stolen with a car, and they left the baby on the side of the street," he told NBC News.

The little baby was then reunited with the distraught mother. Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith revealed that the woman had given them a call to report that her car had been stolen with the baby still inside. She, according to Smith, told them that in the time that she ran back to make sure her house door was locked, "An unknown suspect then stole the car with the baby inside, and the baby was then abandoned on the side of the road."

Another neighbor, Mirna Garcia's home surveillance system caught the whole incident on tape. "It showed the baby getting dropped off, and the baby was there for about 20 minutes, and there were about six vehicles that drove by, and nobody saw. It was also trash day that day, so we wouldn't have realized something was there on the corner." Mirna handed over the footage to Houston Police Department.

Explaining how shocked she was, Mirna continued, "We were a little shocked. Just because we felt like somebody was definitely watching over that baby. And, being a mom, I could only imagine what the mom was going through," as per ABC13.

The officers informed that no arrests have been made yet but the investigation is still ongoing along with the search for the suspect. They have requested anyone who has information about the incident to step forward and contact the law enforcement authorities.

While the mother is reunited with her baby, Juan is happy that he was there to rescue the infant. Talking to ABC News, he said even though he's made thousands of deliveries since he joined work, this was the best delivery he made and “the best thing that’s happened to me in my job.”
