Amy Roloff is known for her kindness and motherly instincts, and in the season finale of "Little People, Big World," we witnessed a lot of it.
The current season of Little People, Big World ended on a very warm and loving note. The finale episode saw the Roloff family welcome a cute little member to their "big world," Zach and Tori Roloff's daughter, Lilah Rose. In a sneak peek video of the episode that PEOPLE exclusively obtained, Amy Roloff was seen having a meltdown when she held her granddaughter in her arms for the first time.
Zach, Tori, and her parents are thrilled to bits to have little Lilah among them. Tori's parents were with her from the night before Lilah was born in November last year. So overall, the hospital ward seemed full of motherly love and warmth with some amazing women supporting and celebrating one another.
Tori seemed overwhelmed with emotions and was comforted by the fact her mom was with her night before. "It's comforting having your momma there," Tori said. "Even after 28 years, you still want your momma there." She added, "You always want your momma there," Kim agrees. "After 61 years, you still want your momma there."
Roloff arrived a bit late and rushed to greet Tori and her parents. She then took baby Lilah in her arms for the first time. "Isn't she gorgeous?" Kim said. "She is so pretty." "She is," Roloff said. "Welcome to this world, Lilah."
In her confessional bit, the Roloff matriarch reflected upon her feelings. "I am very, very excited for Zach and Tori," she said. "They had planned and wanted another child, and she is healthy and she's a girl. I know Tori really wanted a girl. So if my kids are happy, I'll be happy."
"When you hold a baby, knowing that it's your granddaughter and everything, it's just — what a blessing. What a miracle of life," added the grandmother of four. "And I just looked at her filled with so much love and the possibilities of life for her."
Zach and Tori welcomed their daughter Lilah in November 2019, after their son Jackson arrived two years ago. They told PEOPLE that they are happy to see their family expand and would want it to expand further.
"Originally I was like, 'Two kids is my max,'" said Tori. "But I can definitely see us having more. We're loving the season that we're in right now raising kids. Zach and I always say that we were built for this family life."
Like their father Zach, both kids were born with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism. "I forget a lot of times that I'm the only average-height person in my family," Tori said. "It's just so normal to us." This shows that baby Lilah will grow up around people who are full of love and acceptance.
Coming back to Amy Roloff, in an old episode where Zach revealed to his mother that his unborn child will be born with dwarfism, in a somber conversation, the 55-year-old proved that she is a mother through and through who only wants to see her children happy and supports them when they struggle with doubts.
Zach mentioned that Lilah's height will never matter to him but he wishes that she does not face the health issues related to dwarfism; to which Roloff said that she wishes the same and would pray for the well-being and health of her granddaughter.
The father-of-two goes on to talk about how Lilah might have a severe stint with insecurity considering even girls of average height are insecure about a lot of things. Roloff being the supportive mother she is, recalled that she had faced the same issues but how people deal with it makes the difference, she said she felt "excluded and couldn't relate" [to other people.] However, she added, "I was shy too and your daughter could be completely different."
But she does acknowledge that growing up as a little person was tough, "I felt even though I was a part of something, I wasn't a part of that."
But as fans of Amy Roloff who have laughed and cried with her, we know that baby Lilah will be inspired by her courageous grandmother [from the photo above, we can tell that Lilah is already smitten by her grandmom!]. She will be brought up with utmost emotional security and love which might help her see herself for who she is and not for things that do not really matter.
