A source close to Pitt rubbished the allegations and said they were untrue shortly after Jolie's claims were published.
It’s been six years since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt. The actors first met in 2003 on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and dated a few years later. They got engaged in 2012, married in 2014, and split in 2016. The former celebrity couple parted ways after an alleged altercation Pitt had with his children on a place. The two are parents to Maddox, 21, Pax, 18, Zahara, 17, Shiloh, 16, and 14-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox and were declared legally single by a judge back in 2019.
Jolie is now responding to Brad Pitt's lawsuit over the wine company they previously co-owned together. According to Tuesday's cross-complaint, filed by Jolie's lawyers in Los Angeles, allegations state that Brad Pitt "choked" one of their children and "struck another in the face" before pouring beer on her and beer and wine on the children during the "tense" 2016 private jet ride. She filed for divorce in the days following the alleged incident. According to PEOPLE, the new filing stated, "When one of the children verbally defended Jolie, Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him. To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backward into the airplane's seats injuring Jolie's back and elbow. The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened."
It didn't end there according to the Maleficient actress who claimed that "with nowhere to go and to avoid Pitts' wrath, Jolie and the children sat still and silent under blankets" and that "nobody dared to go to the bathroom." She claimed Pitt "periodically emerged from the back of the plane to yell and swear at them" and that, "at one point, he poured beer on Jolie and also poured beer and red wine on the children." According to the filing, the actress "has gone to great lengths to try to shield their children from reliving the pain Pitt inflicted on the family that day but when Pitt filed this lawsuit seeking to reassert control over Jolie's financial life and compel her to rejoin her ex-husband as a frozen-out business partner, Pitt forced Jolie to publicly defend herself on these issues for the first time."
A source close to Pitt denied the allegations stating, "It's incredibly sad that she continues to rehash, revise and reimagine her description of an event that happened 6 years ago, adding in completely untrue information to try to get additional attention for herself at the expense of their family." An FBI agent who investigate the flight assault allegations “concluded that the government had probable cause to charge Pitt with a federal crime for his conduct that day.” A redacted F.B.I. report on the case states that Jolie was “conflicted on whether or not to be supportive of charges” related to the case.
