"Being able to do this for my mom it's like a lifelong dream," Ashton Kutcher shared.
Ashton Kutcher is a mama's boy and he's proud of it! On Mother’s Day, he gave his mom Diane a one-of-a-kind gift; he remodeled his mom’s home in Homestead, Iowa! “It’s my way of saying thank you to my mom,” The Two and a Half Men star explained in a clip from a documentary accompanying the home improvement in 2015. According to PEOPLE, he called the project a "lifelong dream" at the time as a means to say thank you to his mother for being such a wonderful parent. “My mom has been the greatest influence in my life – my parents gave me everything. They went to great sacrifices to give me the life that I have and anything I can do to say thank you is the right thing,” he shared
Kutcher teamed up with the online design site, Houzz, which he invested in, to orchestrate the remodel from Los Angeles. “My stepdad and I built this place when I was 13 years old,” Kutcher said of the house. “But these days, we’ve all moved out and we’ve kind of outgrown the space.” He wanted to remodel the space to reflect "how my parents live now" and "how they're going to be living with grandkids running around."
The Jobs actor took some help from his stepdad Mark to make the surprise extra special. “The one thing that has eternally bonded my stepdad and I is that my stepdad loves my mom as much as I do,” he shared. “When you’re the oldest son, and your parents have gone through a divorce, you’re always mistrustful of any other guy. But Mark stepped in and a lot of ways was there for me in ways my dad couldn’t be there for me. I’m one of those people in this world who’s lucky enough to have two dads. I’m just a blessed person to have that much love in my life,” he added.
After 27 days the renovation was complete! But did his mother enjoy the beautiful gift? When Kutcher finally let his mom in, she was overcome with emotion.“Oh my god, what on earth. Oh, this is beautiful,” she said wiping tears as she saw the new space per E! Online. "Being able to do this for my mom it's like a lifelong dream," Kutcher shared. "You know you grow up and you have a good parent, and I don't know that there's anything I could ever do that really says thank you, but trying sure feels good."
