Baby Declared Cancer-Free After 42 Rounds of Chemotherapy and 865 Days of Treatment

He was diagnosed with leukemia and started his treatment at The Children's Hospital in Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

One of the hardest things for a family to deal with is a cancer diagnosis, and Henry was just three years old when he was faced with the life-altering news. He was diagnosed with leukemia and started his treatment at The Children's Hospital in Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 

Henry endured 42 rounds of chemotherapy and a total of 865 days of treatment before being given the all-clear to return home, healthy and happy. Henry fought bravely throughout this time.

The Little Wishes team planned a surprise for baby Henry before he finally left the hospital to honor his victory over cancer and his spirit in overcoming it with all of his power

The hospital's staff came together to celebrate Henry going home finally. The little one was seen cheering and leaping around as the hospital staff sang for him in the viral footage of the celebration.

The video also featured a touching scene in which Henry's mother was seen choking back tears as she watched her young son dance about happy and healthy after the hardships he endured for over two years.

The staff customized a song for Henry which went, "No more chemo for you, no more chemo for you," to the tune of Happy Birthday, and threw golden confetti in the air. Not only did he dance around the confetti, he later helped the staff of the hospital to clean the mess.

The video of little Henry wearing a shirt that read "Cancer-Free" moved many to tears. It was shared on May 27, 2022, and it soon went viral. Henry may be seen in the video standing next to a sign that says, "SURVIVOR." Henry took pictures with his physicians and other hospital staff members on his special day during the mini-celebration.

Henry's milestone was also celebrated by CBS News via a tweet. The page shared the viral video with the caption, "Henry's mom is in tears because, after 42 rounds of chemo, 23 blood transfusions, and 865 of fighting leukemia, he is cancer free."

Henry and his family have had long, exhausting days, but thankfully, all of that is behind them and they now have a future of health and happiness to look forward to. Honestly, one of the hardest battles to overcome is childhood cancer, but kids like Henry persevere and triumph bravely in their battle against the disease, showing us all what a little perseverance can do.
