Benjamin died during a party in honor of his girlfriend and brother-in-law's birthday, at his mother's house.
The relationship between a brother and a sister is a special one. It's one of love, fun, rivalry, and loyalty. Older siblings tend to feel protective of their younger siblings and are mentors to them as well. They hope to lean on each other through the walks of life but if tragedy strikes and an older sibling has to face the loss of their younger sibling, it can be heartbreaking.
When Benjamin Keough passed away, his sister Riley Keough was so much in shock that she didn't speak up about her loss until recently. Benjamin Keough, son of Lisa Marie Presley and the grandson of Elvis Presley, died by suicide on July 12 at age 27.
Riley, 31, revealed that there were moments in her day that were too hard and she hasn't come to terms with this "new" pain. "Mornings are the hardest. I forget you’re gone. I can’t cry because of the fear that I will never stop. A pain that’s new to me. You. There are no words for you. Angel is the closest I could think of. Pure light. Baby brother. Best friend. Wild man. Intellectual. Witness to my life. Twin soul. Protector. Too sensitive for this harsh world," she wrote on Instagram.
"I hope you give me strength to endure the giant hole you’ve left in my heart. I hope you give me the strength to eat. I hope you’re cradled in love. I hope you feel my love. I hope you feel god. You are god. I can’t believe you’ve left me. Not you sweet Ben Ben. Anyone but you. I guess this is true heartbreak. I hope we meet again," she concluded.
Other celebrities also expressed their prayers and wishes for the family. Reese Witherspoon commented on the post, "I’m so so sorry Riley. My heart is broken for you and your family ✨holding you in my heart." Taylor Lautner said, "Thinking of you."
Elvis Presley's grandson died after shooting himself at a party for his girlfriend and Riley's husband's joint birthday, reported DailyMail.com. The siblings and his girlfriend, Diana Pinto, had been at his mother Lisa Marie Presley's home in Calabasas, California, late on July 12 when the incident occurred. The family was devastated at their loss and Benjamin's father and Lisa's first husband, Danny Keough, was seen for the first time in years after losing his son, as per Daily Mail.
He and Benjamin's girlfriend, Diana, were seen outside the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, where Lisa had been holed up since losing her son. Diana worried that Lisa would "blame her" and "hate her" for failing to stop the suicide.
She too shared her pain on Instagram and paid a tribute to her late 27-year-old boyfriend. "To the most beautiful boy I have ever seen. You make everyone around you light up the second you step into the room. You touch every single soul around you. You love your Sunday morning toons and chocolate milk. I promise to always honor you on Fancy Fridays. Your laugh is heard all over the world now. You made me the luckiest girl in the world, to have you, to hold you, to love you and to be loved by you are the only things that have ever mattered. You are my whole world and my whole life, you live with me now every day in my heart, in my soul and in my mind," she wrote.
"My travel partner. My best friend. I will cherish all the memories we’ve made together and keep them close to my heart. I feel your silliness within me still making me laugh. Every second of every day I think of you, now I know the true meaning of grief. Please give me strength to keep going because I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this life without you. You will always be the love of my life, my everything. Big pies little pies, te amo mas que el sol y la luna mi amorsito. Love forever, Honu."
