Calling him the "greatest brother in the world" she also described him as having a "hilarious" sense of humor and "kind heart."
Bindi Irwin sees a lot of her late father in her brother, Robert. In a sweet tribute to her sibling celebrating his 19th birthday on December 1, she shared a silly picture of the two showing off their goofy side. Robert can be seen wincing with a hand on his head beside a low piece of wood with a sign that reads, "Watch your head." Joking about Robert being the taller sibling, Bindi also spoke of his "hilarious" sense of humor and "kind heart."
Calling him the "greatest brother in the world," she added: "I see so much of Dad in everything you do and I know he would be beyond proud of you. We all are. Thank you for being such a good uncle to Grace and a fantastic brother to me and Chandler. We love you and can't wait to celebrate today!" Replying to his sister's sweet post, the birthday boy wrote: "Love you B, thank you!"
The siblings lost their dad, Steve Irwin, back in 2006 in a tragic incident involving a stingray, reports PEOPLE. The legendary conservationist was 44 years old when he passed away following a stingray attack off the coast of northern Australia. Bindi was 8 years old at the time and her brother was only two.
Irwin was best known for his hit TV show, The Crocodile Hunter, which aired from 1997 to 2004, with over 300 episodes. Ever since his death, the family—including Irwin's wife Terri and their children, Bindi and Robert—has worked hard to keep his legacy alive through their animal conservation efforts.
In a touching tribute to his dad on Father's Day back in 2020 Robert shared an old photo of the two of them with a koala. "I feel so lucky to have had an absolute superhero for a dad," he wrote in the caption. "One of the things I'm most thankful for was the passion for wildlife that he instilled in me at such a young age. He taught Bindi and I the importance of treating every living being as you would wish to be treated."
More recently, on November 15, Robert shared a photograph of the father-son duo holding a little crocodile, captioning it: "Today is Steve Irwin Day. It's a day to remember everything Dad was about - conservation, dedication, fun and family. It never ceases to amaze me what an impact Dad had on the world when I see people in every corner of the globe celebrating his life and legacy on this special day."
More than 16 years after his father's death, Steve's youngest plans on continuing his father's legacy by embodying his message of kindness and love and spreading it to the world. "We have to create as much positive change as we can for our environment and for our fellow humans as well," the Crikey! It's the Irwins star told ET. "And just to treat one with kindness, and I think he exemplified that perfectly. And I'll always just feel so lucky that I had the most amazing dad in the world, who was literally a superhero."
