The singers got married over the weekend in Shelton's private ranch, less than a month after the 'Don't Speak' singer sparked wedding rumors as she wore a diamond band on her left hand.
After dating for almost six years, singers Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have finally tied the knot. The lovebirds quietly got married over the weekend in Shelton's private ranch, less than a month after the Don't Speak singer sparked wedding rumors as she wore a diamond band on her left hand. According to Page Six's sources, the July 3 ceremony took place in a chapel that the country singer built on his property with the intention of marrying Stefani. "Blake built a chapel on the grounds of his Oklahoma ranch. He did it himself with help. It’s really a tribute to their love. They are going to get married in the chapel, most likely early next year," a source revealed in December 2020. Pictures of guests, including the Rich Girl singer's parents Dennis Stefani and Patty Flynn, attending the reception were also captured, per ELLE. The intimate wedding reportedly had about 40 guests, with The Voice host Carson Daly serving as officiant, according to Today.
The pair announced the news by sharing pictures of their wedding on Instagram and gushing that "dreams do come true." 51-year-old Stefani and 45-year-old Shelton first met on NBC's reality singing competition The Voice in 2014. They began dating the following year while going through very public divorces. Shelton filed for divorce from his second wife Miranda Lambert in July 2015 after four years of marriage. "This is not the future we envisioned," the pair told Us Weekly at the time. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
Meanwhile, Stefani called it quits with her husband of 13 years Gavin Rossdale just weeks later. She has three children - Zuma, Kingston, and Apollo - with him. "While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," the two said in a statement according to The Guardian. "To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time." While Stefani cited irreconcilable differences for their split, it was widely known that Rossdale had been unfaithful to her. Details of Shelton and Lambert's divorce were sealed by the court.
By November the same year, the two reportedly began dating. They initially saw each other as a rebound but the dynamics of their relationship quickly changed, according to Yahoo! News. "I remember at that time we were just starting to see each other and we were both going through horrible breakups, divorces, horrible in that it was just sad," admitted Shelton while speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. "And there were times where Gwen and I would be like, 'Are we rebounding here? Is that what we're doing together? Because this makes no sense.' And so we would always have these conversations like, 'Oh yeah, we're just getting over our crap with each other.'"
"It was interesting because all of a sudden there was this girl that I was just starting to see and spend time with and that I was obviously crazy about," added the Nobody But You singer. After years of dating, the two fell madly in love with each other, and in October 2020, Shelton popped the question in Oklahoma. Appearing on Today, Stefani revealed that there was "a lot to consider" while deciding whether or not they wanted to get married again. "There's so many people involved. [My] children and their hearts, everybody in my family, his family, we all went through a lot together," she explained.
Despite some reservations, Stefani just knew that Shelton was the one. "He's just such a good guy. He's one of the most generous human beings and down to earth. It all sounds generic but it's just so true. He's so gifted, and so unique and talented," she told ET Online. "He really just is my best friend. I feel so excited that I have someone in my life that now I have a chance at happiness. For a long time to come. It's just a blessing, the whole thing. It's a miracle."
