“The song is not a fairytale, but at the same time it’s the most epic, earth-rattling love song I’ve heard in a long time, because the lyrics are so honest and just say how it is," said Blake Shelton.
Ever since country singer Blake Shelton and pop singer Gwen Stefani announced their relationship in 2015, their fans cannot get enough of the couple's amazing chemistry. It was a bonus for them to see the two appear as judges on the televised musical reality show, The Voice. Listening to them come together for their songs was truly a gift as well. Now, fans will get to enjoy another duet that brings them together professionally. But to Shelton, their new track is more personal than fans might have known.
According to E!Online, the country singer is preparing to release his upcoming album Fully Loaded: God's Country and he has something big to share about it, especially about one specific track on the album. His song, Nobody But You, features his girlfriend and he couldn't be happier.
"This was one of those songs where the more I heard it, the more I fell in love with it," Blake shared in a release. "I also realized how important it is for me and where I am in my life, and I think that's why [writer] Shane [McAnally] was trying to get it to me." He continued, "It fits my story. I was about to go in and record when I decided that it needed Gwen on it—because it is our song. I think it's magic."
And since their previous collaborations, You Make It Feel Like Christmas and Go Ahead and Break My Heart were both such hits, the 43-year-old country singer has faith that this song too will be just as big a success. “The lyrics of that song are so on point, not just for me and Gwen, but I think for a lot of people,” he told Nashville Lifestyles magazine, cited Country Living. “The song is not a fairytale, but at the same time it’s the most epic, earth-rattling love song I’ve heard in a long time, because the lyrics are so honest and just say how it is.”
The Voice coach also explains that Nobody But You portrays a real relationship, including the difficulties that sometimes come with it. “This song really cuts to the honesty of how these two feel about each other, and in a real-life situation,” he said. “It’s as honest as you can be in a country song, and something that will make you stop your car.”
This isn't the first time that Shelton and Stefani have felt the romance blossom during their music productions. With their 2018 duet titled, You Make It Feel Like Christmas, the two paint a pretty picture of a winter love and romance for which the smooth-voiced pop singer has given a lot of credit to her sweet boyfriend for help with the lyrics, reported ETOnline. However, said boyfriend told the outlet that he doesn't really deserve such praise.
"I sent Gwen a couple of lines of the song. She took it and made the song what it is. I just sent her an idea," a humble Shelton explained to ET. "She tries to say that I co-wrote it, but I just sang on it." Despite that comment, a few of the lyrics that really stood out for a lot of fans were the especially sweet lines, "I never thought I'd find a love like this/But I found forever in that very first kiss." Asking if they were written about the couple in particular, all the Texoma Shore singer had to say was, "I would like to think so, come on. This is romance around here, of course!"
The couple first met in 2014 when Stefani had joined as a judge on The Voice. However, it was in 2015 when the couple, who had split from their respective partners, raised eyebrows with their chemistry when they performed singer Drake's Hotline Bling on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
A few weeks later, the couple went official and have been together ever since, much to the delight of their fans, reported Insider. Well, here's to the success of their new duet as well as their relationship.
