Comedian Colin Jost announced the happy news on Instagram while requesting everyone to respect their privacy.
Congratulations are in order for Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost who recently welcomed a beautiful baby boy. Johansson's representative Marcel Pariseau confirmed the news of the couple's newest addition to the family while speaking to PEOPLE. Meanwhile, 39-year-old Jost took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the joyous news. "Ok ok we had a baby. His name is Cosmo. We love him very much," he wrote. However, the father did not give out any details about the exact date when the child was born. Instead, he urged everyone "privacy would be greatly appreciated" and directed people to contact their publicist "for all inquiries."
This is the second child for the Black Widow actress who shares daughter Rose Dorothy, 7, with her former husband Romain Dauriac but first with her SNL host husband, reports CNN. Johansson and Jost met through Saturday Night Live, which the 36-year-old actress has hosted many times since 2006. As for Jost, he joined the popular show as a writer in 2005 and ultimately became head writer and Weekend Update co-host, according to USA Today. Soon, the two could be seen linking arms and walking together on red carpet events.
They got engaged in May 2019 after dating for two years and announced their wedding in October after exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony. The news was shared via a post by Meals on Wheels America's Instagram page, which is a charity that provides food and other resources to the elderly. The post featured a Staten Island Ferry which had the words "Jost Married" written on the top of the image. "We’re thrilled to break the news that Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost were married over the weekend in an intimate ceremony with their immediate family and love ones, following COVID-19 safety precautions as directed by the CDC," read the caption of the post.
While speaking to Ellen DeGeneres in October 2019, the Sing 2 star opened up how her then-fiancé absolutely "killed it" with a "surprising" proposal, which was "a whole James Bond situation." "He's got a lot behind that news desk he's hiding," joked Johansson pointing at Jost's job as SNL's Weekend Update co-host. "He's very charming and very thoughtful and romantic. But yeah, I was surprised. Even if you kind of imagine what that moment's gonna be like, it's still a beautiful moment," she added. As for Jost, he opened up about the very first time her met Johansson during his first year on SNL in his book A Very Punchable Face: A Memoir.
In the memoir, which was released earlier this year, he described his wife as a "beautiful, smart, sweet and intimidatingly sophisticated" star who possessed "a grace and a smile that I’ve still never seen in any other human." Having met the one, Jost admitted, "I’ve met someone I love. And who I feel more comfortable with than I ever have before," according to Page Six.
Congrats to the new parents!
