"A lot of married couples would rather do anything but spend the evening together, that's not the case in our house," Brad said.
Long before they even met, in 1991, Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley's long-lasting romance would begin. Now, more than two decades into their marriage, the couple still finds time to do charming, romantic things together. Kimberly posted an adorable Instagram video of her doting husband Brad giving her an Easter-themed manicure on April 8, 2023. She wrote, "Hubby gave me 'Easter nails'," in the caption for the video.
After seeing Kimberly in Father of the Bride, where she played Annie Banks, the country music musician fell in love with her for the first time. Ten years later, Brad approached the actress about appearing in his song video, and the two of them soon started dating. Ultimately, the pair wed in March 2003. They have two sons: Jasper Warren, born in 2009, and William Huckleberry, born in 2007. The pair credited "focussing on laughter" as their long-lasting marriage's secret with PEOPLE in 2021.
Every year on their wedding anniversary, Brad and his actress wife Kimberly have a ritual in which they sit down and share their greatest memories from the previous year in a special journal. "Our greatest hits," Kimberly, then 49, joked about the tradition, adding, "We record the meaningful moments, the best laughs. That's a big part of our relationship—focusing on the laughter and keeping a sense of play."
The pair claims that their 20-year marriage is even better now than it was when they got married in 2003 because of this system's success. "A lot of married couples would rather do anything but spend the evening together," said Brad, sharing that "that's not the case in our house."
When asked what they still adore about one another, the answers flowed quite easily. "You keep our house afloat — seeing you give birth to two kids and raise a third is amazing," Brad said to his wife, jokingly counting himself alongside his sons. "And you try to do the right thing all the time," he complimented his wife. For Kim, it's Brad's "gigantic heart." She said, "You care about all creatures, great and small."
She cited a recent night of heavy rain that caused the region around their home in the Nashville area to flood when Brad went outdoors at two in the morning to check on a nest of geese eggs. "They weren't," he admitted. "But it's so sweet how much you care," Kim added.
The couple marked two decades of their successful marriage in March 2023. Brad and Kimberly both published Instagram images to mark the occasion. The actress created a video montage using images from their 20 years of marriage, "This is 20 years. Oh, the places we've been!" The country music star, though, took a lighter approach, posting a photo of a shirt that read, "Love One Woman... Many Guitars," along with the caption, "Sums it up."
