Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have tragically lost their baby to a miscarriage.

This devastating news comes just about a month after Spears first announced she and Asghari were "having a baby" after their vacation in Hawaii.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy," they shared in the post on social media. "This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however we were overly excited to share the good news."

"Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment," the couple concluded.

Spears had announced in April 2022 that Asghari and she were expecting their first child together.

"I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back… I thought 'Geez… what happened to my stomach ???' My husband said 'No you're food pregnant silly!!!' So I got a pregnancy test... and uhhhhh well… I am having a baby…" she wrote at the time.

The Gimme More singer had mentioned that she will be staying out of the public's eye during her pregnancy journey because she doesn't want the paparazzi to make money off her. She had also shared that it was hard going public with her pregnancies the first two times, recalling how it took a toll on her mental health.

"It’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression … I have to say it is absolutely horrible," she wrote. "Women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it every day... thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret."

Spears—who is mom to sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15 (with ex-husband Kevin Federline)—began dating Asghari, 28—personal trainer and actor—after they starred together in her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016, according to PEOPLE

When addressing the court in June 2021, Spears said that her conservators have complete control over her and her body, adding that her conservators would not let her remove an intrauterine device (IUD) so she could have more children.
