The couple is ready to say "I do." It has been over four years since they first met on the sets of Spears' 'Slumber Party' music video.
Britney Spears is engaged!
After dating for over four years, boyfriend Sam Asghari popped the question to Spears, and she let the world know by flashing a diamond engagement ring. According to PEOPLE, Spears, 39, and Asghari, 27, first met in 2016, on the sets of Spears' Slumber Party music video.
Actor and fitness enthusiast Asghari's manager Brandon Cohen shared in an additional statement that he is "proud to celebrate and confirm the engagement."
"The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love expressed to them," said Cohen, adding that Spears' ring was exclusively designed by N.Y.C. jeweler Roman Malayev. "He couldn't be happier to be involved and make this one-of-a-kind ring," added Cohen.
A source revealed that Spears is "ecstatic" about the proposal. She shared a video on Instagram, of her showing off her new bling, with Asghari by her side. "Yes!" she tells Asghari when he asked if she likes her new bling.
Per Bloomberg, the ring celebrates Britney Spears for her bravery, as it has the word "Lioness" engraved on it.
Rumors that Asghari was engagement ring-shopping started making the rounds when he was photographed looking at jewelry inside a Cartier store in California at the beginning of September 2021, per E! News. "Engagement has always been in the cards for Sam and Britney, without question," a source close to Asghari said. "It's the direction their relationship has been heading for nearly two years now. It's always a discussion and it's not a question of if, it's when."
The source continued, "Things are evidently becoming better for Britney with her conservatorship and she's never felt this liberated in all aspects of her life. The closer she gets to freedom, the closer she is to see all of her dreams become an actual reality. Marrying Sam is high on that list and loving him the way she wants, how she wants, on her own terms. Sam also understands how close they are to being out of the woods, and it's definitely motivating him to think big."
Spears and Asghari, the source added, are "both feeling so happy and fulfilled in their work and in their relationship. They only elevate one another as a couple and bring out the best in each other."
This sure does come as a ray of hope to fans of the Toxic singer, given how she's been experiencing some tough times, fighting to end her 13-year long conservatorship, under dad Jamie Spears.
