They may have had issues when they were married but getting divorced allowed them to become close friends.
When we see Bruce Willis in his action-packed movies, we end up rooting for him because we know he's the good guy. Whether it's in Die Hard or in RED, you can't help but fall for his charms. However, sometimes the persona we see on screen may not be in sync with who the actor is in real-life. But when it comes to Willis, what you see is what you get. He isn't just a good guy, he is a gentleman who lets his heart decide his next move rather than his pride. His timely phone call to his ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, says it all.
During the third week of September 2019, the Charlie's Angels actress was all set to promote her new book “Inside Out,” which gives readers an honest look at her traumatic childhood, her troubles with alcohol addiction, and her relationships with ex-husbands Ashton Kutcher and Bruce Willis, according to Huffington Post. She was getting ready to appear on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when she got a call from The Sixth Sense actor. And what he said brought tears to her eyes.
"I was getting ready to do Jimmy Fallon live the other night, and I was in the dressing room and my phone rang, and it was Bruce,” Moore revealed on the Netflix podcast Present Company with Krista Smith, according to Today.
"I was prepared for there, maybe, to be some sensitivities, and he called and he got very emotional. He said, 'I'm so proud of you,'" she added. "I, too, then became very emotional, and I’m not a crier ... the purity of his love and acceptance, the space that he could hold for me, to be walking out and (to have) that encouragement, it just really meant so much, so much to me," she shared.
Especially since she felt like she had been on a downward spiral, as she explained at the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House’s 29th Annual Awards Luncheon, where she won the Woman of the Year award, according to People. “I feel like there are defining moments in our lives that shape who we are and the direction we go, and early in my career, I was spiraling down a path of real self-destruction, and no matter what successes I had, I just never felt good enough,” explained Moore.
The mother-of-three, who strived through childhood abuse, the constant struggle with alcoholism, and toxic relationships, was at a vulnerable space when the phone call came. The gesture made her day and lifted her spirit.
According to Pop Culture, by the time the Ghost actress married the now 64-year-old actor, they had three kids together. When they divorced, it wasn't easy for them. Fox News reported that according to the 56-year-old actress' memoir, the breakup “wasn’t easy at first,” but they did their best to redirect the “heart of our relationship, the heart of what created our family, into something new that gave the girls a loving, supportive environment with both parents.”
“I think Bruce was fearful at the beginning that I was going to make our split difficult, and that I would express my anger and whatever baggage that I had from our marriage by obstructing his access to the kids — that I’d turn to all of those ploys divorcing couples use as weapons,” she said. “But I didn’t, and neither did he.” This worked out great for them as both celebrities are on good terms, their kids are happy and they're even friends with each other's spouses. In fact, Moore was invited to Willis and his current wife, Emma Heming's vow renewal ceremony.
The actor recently spent time in quarantine with Demi Moore as his current wife Emma, who was supposed to join them, was stuck out of town. She later joined them and their children as one big, happy family.
