People who are in long-term relationships face a set of problems unique to them. They might get occupied with daily chores and other responsibilities, forgetting to make time for each other. Keeping the zing alive can get harder the longer we stay together. It helps to keep working on our relationship and make efforts for each other. It's easy to fall into the pattern of taking each other for granted but keeping the relationship fresh and fun has its perks.

Candace Cameron Bure, 44, and Valeri Bure, 46, have been married since 1996. After 24 years together, their love and passion for each other are still alive. Candace, who started working as an actress when she was a child, and Valeri Vladimirovich "Val" Bure, a Russian-American former ice hockey right winger, are parents to three children, Natasha Bure, Lev Valerievich Bure, and Maksim Valerievich Bure.

The actress met Valeri when they were set up by her friend and co-star on Full House, Dave Coulier a.k.a. Uncle Joey from the show, according to The Pioneer Woman. "Dave Coulier, who played Joey on Full House, is a big hockey fan. He was at a celebrity charity game playing, and he invited the cast down. He pulled me over to the side and said, 'I met this really cute Russian hockey player and I want to introduce you,'" Cameron said on Today. "Val had just come from Moscow, Russia and it turned out he would watch Full House to learn English," she added.

Full House had just ended when they met. Meanwhile, the 46-year-old ice hockey player was with the Montreal Canadiens back then. They were nearby geographically and had a whirlwind romance. They got engaged in a year and married in another year. The wedding was attended by her reel family John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber.

More recently, the actress, who returned to the sequel of her hit show, revealed what keeps her marriage alive after all these years. Her secret is simple: "Keep it fun [and] flirty," she told Closer Weekly. The Fuller House actress credits "great sex" for the longevity of her marriage. "Hey, it’s been 24 years, so if you’re still having good sex that is a plus!" she said, adding, "Keep learning things about your spouse." Now, that's a piece of great advice for all couples. Everyone evolves over time and couples may grow apart during this process. Instead, if we keep relearning and unlearning what we know about our partners, our relationship will also grow.

She said "it’s so easy" to "fall into patterns" in a long-term relationship, so she finds different ways to keep them connected. "I also think that you should keep dating your spouse," she adds. "It can get monotonous at home," added the mom-of-three.

She said that 2020 was the exception because of the pandemic but before that, they would enjoy many date nights. Staying home has not stopped them from having romantic evenings though. "We always have dinner or something once a week by ourselves," the Hallmark star shared. "Or we’ll go for a walk and just talk. Those things are important. You can’t let life get so busy that you don’t spend intentional time with your spouse," she added.

The actress, who has her hands full with her kids, is extra proud of her grown-up daughter Natasha, who followed in her footsteps. "[She] is an actress," the mama gushed, adding, "I think all the parenting you do over the years is what builds them up to pursue what’s right for them individually. I always tell them to look at the talents God gave them and use it to find what they want to do in life."

She is also thankful to have her children with her at home, even though all of them are grown up and have flown from the nest. "I have so many friends and family members that I do worry about, [but] we’re doing really great," she shared. "I’m very thankful that I have my family. … we’ve just been enjoying time together — cooking meals and playing lots of board games and watching Netflix," she said.
