Cher Reveals the Secret to Having a Fit and Toned Body at 75 | And You Can Do It Too

She can do a plank for five minutes, most of it without breaking into a sweat. How many 40-year-olds can do what she does at 75? She follows a no-meat diet and takes her fitness very seriously.

Celebrities have access to the best of the cosmetic treatments and many of them do peruse it but then there are those who genuinely work, regardless of their age, to remain fit. 75-year-old pop legend Cher is one such celebrity who hasn't let age become a deterrent from staying in shape.

Last seen in Mama Mia 2, the singer and actor turned 75 this year but she's just as strong as she was in her 40s. If you doubt that, here's a photo of her in her 70s.

And here's a photo of her in her 40s in the film Moonstruck starring Nicolas Cage. There isn't a lot of difference, is there! She's still just as fit and sexy as she was in 1987.

In 2017, at the age of 71, she dazzled the audience at the Billboard Music Awards with her performance in a sheer bodysuit. After the performance, she not-so-subtly let the audience know how fit she is when she said, "I can do a 5-minute plank, okay?”, according to Health.com. Not even a lot of people in their 20s can do that!

The pop icon has always mentioned that she believes in working out almost every day of the week to stay in shape even now. If someone in her 70s can do that, what's your excuse?

Last September, she appeared on the Ellen Show, where she said that while she can do a 5-minute plank she "can do it for two minutes without a sweat." She also recommended her go-to "old-fashioned things" for a toned butt.

"You get down on all fours and you put your leg up and you make an L with your leg and you do it up like that," she said, according to Insider. "Three sets of 25," she added.

She also does squats and fire hydrant moves, along with using a Power Plate (a machine with "whole body vibration technology") and does Zumba at home.

She also takes care of her diet, which doesn't include any meat. In 2013, she told HELLO! Magazine about her diet in detail, according to Female First. "I exercise about five times a week because it's something I've always done and I just enjoy it," she said. "I don't like meat and so most of things that I like are healthy for you, apart from desserts. I don't do drugs and don't drink very often. I try to play the age card with my trainer but she just doesn't go for it. My farewell tour was one of the longest tours ever, and I think it would be a tour that would kill a 25-year-old girl now," she had said.

In 1991, she wrote a book Forever Fit in which she had a few suggestions that anyone can follow to stay fit and healthy.

"I quit smoking. I don’t do drugs. I never drink coffee and almost never drink alcohol or eat red meat, so I’m way ahead of the game. I try to avoid foods with a high fat content because they make me sluggish and keep my weight up. Dairy products are not good for us. I weaned myself from whole milk to nonfat milk—if I’m having milk at all. I think cheese is one of the worst things for the body. It doesn’t digest well, and most cheeses are too high in fat and cholesterol. My worst addiction is sweets, chocolate," she told People Magazine in 1991.

However, the Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar winner has been honest about plastic surgery, which she first tried in 1985. She has acknowledged that she has done rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, a facelift, and dental surgery, according to DailyMail. However, that doesn't stop her from working hard at the gym or sticking to her diet. She continues to work and believes that working has kept her young too.

The one thing that keeps her going is her willpower to live a healthy and long life and for that she works every day. While with age many let themselves off the hook of continuing to keep a healthy diet and workout, it is not unachievable, and Cher is living proof of that.
