Elsa Pataky did once admit that she thought Hemsworth was too young to start a family but he proved her wrong and how!
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have been head over heels in love with each other for almost a decade now. They are parents of three kids and have always touched their admirer with their chemistry and comfort around each other. But if the Avengers star is to be believed, they never had the 'it' moment or a mushy, rom-com style beginning of their relationship, as many would anticipate. The couple, in fact, knew that they are the ones for each other and were up for a commitment in no time.
They met each other in early 2010 and from the very first moment they knew that there is something special, something not so ordinary about them, so without much ado, they exchanged vows during the Christmas vacation of the same year.
When Elle asked him how he knew she was the one, Hemsworth said, "There was no light-bulb moment. From the first time we met, we just made sense. She's fun. She's outgoing, and she has a sense of humor and a passionate attitude toward life, which is nice to try to keep up with."
"There was no great plan to any of it, to be honest, we were on holiday and we said 'why don't we get married too?'" he said, as quoted by Bustle. Well, that might explain why great love stories need not have a lot of display involved in them. They believed in the spark of their relationship and quietly made each other their own.
Though they had a 7 year age gap, Chris, 36, and Elsa, 43, made their relationship work well. While they did not take much time in deciding to get married, the Spanish actress was initially not sure if Hemsworth was too young and not ready for a mature and committed relationship. "I think any time you start a family without knowing each other that much, it can be complicated... He was very young to be starting a family, and at the same time he was juggling that with his career and it was sometimes difficult, there was so much going on."
But the actor proved her wrong and how. He went on to become a committed husband and a doting father to their three children. One might also believe that when a man is in a relationship with an older woman, it brings out the patient and most responsible behavior from within him.
He also said that he still finds new things to love about the mother of his children and it is growing by the day. That's the thing about mature relationships between highly committed people; it only grows stronger and younger. "Each week I find something different, more I love about her," Hemsworth told TV Week, as quoted by the Daily Mail. "It continues to grow, which is a great thing."
Hemsworth confessed that when he saw his wife raising and nurturing his children, daughter India and twins sons Tristan and Sasha, his love for her intensified. "Watching her be a mother made me fall even more in love with her. Once we had kids we were like, ‘We’re in it, this is it,’” he told The Who, as quoted by ET. "All of a sudden I had a greater appreciation for my wife, she kind of came into her own when we had kids. She certainly keeps me sane. I complain about things, she gets on with it."
When Pataky talked about all the changes that took over her life, she told Elle Australia, "It's interesting how you can be a successful woman who has been working her whole life, and then you have kids and suddenly your career isn't as important and you don't appreciate it as much, and you just think, 'What am I doing? I have been fighting all my life for this and now I don't know if I really want it?' ...When you become a mum, everything that was important goes into the second position."
Our society is yet to come to terms with the fact that the woman being the older one in the marriage does not affect anything as long as the couple is true to themselves and each other. Chris and Elsa took a leap of faith into each other's arms and found a safe haven forever.
"I always tell people, don't be scared of moving out of your comfort zone because if you are, you'll miss out on so much life," she said. "Almost every person I've met who has had the courage to leave everything and have another experience, they have never regretted it. Just go, leave everything, who cares what is going to happen? You'll have to start again? Great!" said Elsa.
