For them, exchanging vows mattered more than having a grand wedding.
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky's love story is one that could be called old-fashioned. They did not have a long courtship or extravagant gestures to mark their milestones. But when they met, they knew that they have found the one.
They first met in 2010 and soon realized that there is was undeniable chemistry between them. In a conversation with Elle regarding how he knew she was then one, he said, "there was no light-bulb moment. From the first time we met, we just made sense. She's fun. She's outgoing, and she has a sense of humor and a passionate attitude toward life, which is nice to try to keep up with."
Without much ado, they started dating. And to everyone's surprise, the couple tied the knot after just three months of courtship. Within three months of dating, the couple even holidayed in Indonesia with their families, and they felt that the moment was right. That was it. They got married on the same vacation. Hemsworth later admitted, “Honestly, we had both our families on holiday at the same time, just randomly, and we said, ‘This is a good opportunity with everyone together.’ So, we just did it,” Cheatsheet quoted him.
In today's time, when even after years of companionship people hesitate to solemnize their relationship, Hemsworth and Pataky's trust in each other is nothing short of inspirational. They knew that they had to be with each other for life, and they trusted that instinct.
While their age gap of seven years was never a hindrance in their relationship, Pataky initially thought that Hemsworth is too young to start a family. "I think any time you start a family without knowing each other that much, it can be complicated... He was very young to be starting a family, and at the same time he was juggling that with his career and it was sometimes difficult, there was so much going on."
The Thor actor, however, went on to prove himself a good husband and a responsible father of three children —7-year-old, India Rose and 5-year-olds Sasha and Tristan. Pataky's maturity possibly inspired him to be more responsible, which led him to stay invested in his relationship and family, although they hadn't planned for it.
"Each week I find something different, more I love about her," Hemsworth had once told TV Week. "It continues to grow, which is a great thing." He had also confessed that his love for Pataky grew when he saw her being the mother of his children.
"Watching her be a mother made me fall even more in love with her. Once we had kids we were like, ‘We’re in it, this is it,’” ET quoted him. "All of a sudden I had a greater appreciation for my wife, she kind of came into her own when we had kids. She certainly keeps me sane. I complain about things, she gets on with it." So charmingly old-school!
For the couple, their family is everything. From spending quality time together at home with their children, or going on vacations, the parents-of-three never leave a chance to appreciate their family. In fact, in 2019, Hemsworth announced a sabbatical so he could spend more time with his wife and children.
“This year I probably won’t shoot anything. I just want to be at home now with my kids. They are at a very important age. They are still young and they are aware when I leave more than before,” Metro quoted him.
A love story of two people that started with faith in each other has now, after a decade, bloomed into a lovely family of five. We wish this happy family a lifetime of love and laughter!
