Chrissy Teigen Skips Grammys 2023 to Be With Baby Esti | “What Am I Trying to Prove”

John Legend, Teigen's husband and Esti's father, got nominated in three categories for the Grammys, but Chrissy prioritized being with the baby.

Chrissy Teigen is loving the role of being a mom again to her young daughter Esti, who was born on January 13. The cookbook author, unfortunately has to skip on some important events as she tends to her young baby. Teigen took to Instagram to share that she had a dress fitting for the Grammys, which she had to skip, as she stays home to care for her infant. The 37-year-old mother couldn't attend the Grammy's, NBC reports. She shared the news on her Instagram as she posed with her baby in the picture captioned, “happy grammy day!! had a dress fitting, looked around, and realized ….what the hell am I trying to prove here. I cannot get up lol."

The mother of three shares a daughter Luna, 6, son Miles, 4, and 3-week-old daughter Esti John Legend, per PEOPLE. The EGOT-winner and musician previously announced the incoming of their third child back in 2022. The amazing news came two years post a traumatic pregnancy loss the couple experienced in October 2020. "The last few years have been a blur of emotions, to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way," Teigen informed her followers on August  4 as she acknowledged her IVF journey.

The 44-year-old father and Teigen’s husband stands nominated for three Grammys this year. The categories include, ‘song of the year’, ‘best rap performance’, and ‘best rap song’ for the track God Did which was released in collaboration with DJ Khaled. The family was excited for the night but caring for the infant seemed like the need of the hour as Teigen posted about keeping busy with her baby as she nursed her daughter Esti. A Twitter post hinted at a lot of time together for the newborn and the mum.

In an interview with E! News the Love Me Now singer shared how they came to decide on her daughter’s unique name, "It turns out, my great grandmother was named Esther. It wasn't intentionally after someone, but once Chrissy told me that idea, I was like, 'Oh, my great-grandmother's name was Esther,'" explained the father.

"We wanted to already name her middle name Maxine after my grandmother, whose middle name was Maxine. So, it's a lot of my family in the name," he added talking about his late grandma Marjorie, who passed away in February 2021.
