Patrol Lieutenant Eric Fields of the Morgan County Sheriff's Office in Alabama posed for a photo after a hard day's work. The office shared the picture on Facebook, and almost immediately, it went viral, with scores of people commenting under it and sharing it. You see, Fields had an uncanny resemblance to none other than Dwayne Johnson, aka "The Rock".
At first look, it almost seems like it's The Rock himself, onn a movie set. The fact that he too has a similar tattoo on his chest confused people all the more.
According to PEOPLE, the connection was first made when a local man asked another law enforcement officer to meet the deputy "that people say looks like 'The Rock.' " The picture of Fileds with the man was also shared on their page.
Apparently, this isn't the first time the 37-year-old has been mistaken for the Jumanji: The Next Level actor.
"I've been called The Rock and Vin Diesel's love child," the 17-year veteran told AL.com. "I go along with it. It's humorous. It's flattering. It could be worse people, I guess," he teased of the "running joke" in the area.
Soon enough the photo of Fields reached none other than The Rock himself, who took to social media to share a photo of him and Fields side-by-side.
"Oh shit! Wow. Guy on the left is way cooler," the star shared. "Stay safe brother and thank you for your service."
He then offered to catch with Fields one day with his own brand of Alcohol. "One day we’ll drink @Teremana and I need to hear all your “Rock stories” because I KNOW you got ‘em."
As a response to Johnson's offer, the police department reacted to his tweet on their page. "Looks like Dwayne The Rock Johnson is aware of our Lt. Fields. Hopefully, he'll take us up on our offer to come spend time on patrol with us," they wrote. They then concluded their post with a joke, saying, "We're gonna need a bigger Tahoe for these two."
Even though he's been noticed by Johnson, Fields says he's flattered to be compared to the actor. “The blessing was really for me because he had a spirit that was just such a great person to meet.,” Fields said. “He’s the real celebrity. Everybody knew him and loved him. It was a blessing to me. I go trying to bless someone else, and I come out with the blessing of meeting him. I wish the actual Rock could meet this kid. He’s the hometown hero.”
But, he hopes that his similarity to the beloved actor doesn't disappoint anyone. “I don’t want to disappoint anybody,” Fields said. “I walk up one day and at a different angle, I don’t know. It’s flattering, but it’s also a little nerve-racking as far as what others expect I guess.
“I just plan on being me. I’ll cut up. I’m a big cut-up. If it comes up and somebody says that, I’ll play along. I really couldn’t be anybody but me. I’m just glad I could be part of someone’s happiness and laughter.”
