A family was hosting a baby shower, to celebrate their pregnancy and it was all going good at first until it got out of hand pretty soon. On September 18, 2021, a group of people had gathered for the occasion, but apparently, a fight over the gifts led to three people being shot at the party, reports NBC News

Police in Lower Burrell responded to an active shooting at the Kinloch Fire Department shortly after 6 pm. "At 6:11 pm our officers arrived on the scene, located the suspected shooter as he was exiting the Firehall. The suspect was taken into custody without incident," the police department shared on Facebook.

"However, this was not an active shooter situation but rather an isolated family incident during a baby shower. Preliminary investigation shows a family argument began that turned physical then the suspect introduced a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. This remains an active investigation."

The suspect, 25-year-old Isiah Jumaane Hampton reportedly got into an argument with a woman who wanted him to transport the gifts from the baby shower, according to the criminal complaint, cites Tribune Live. The argument soon got physical, and the woman slapped Hampton's face, prompting him to shove her backward. Three men at the party intervened to break up the fight. Hampton had fallen to the ground when he allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at them.

Three people were injured during this—a 23-year-old male, who was shot in the torso, a 16-year-old boy, who was shot in his rear end, and a 19-year-old female, who was shot in her leg. The woman who was shot was not the one Hampton was arguing with, states reports. The third person was shot unintentionally, as it happened while people tried to wrestle the gun from the suspect's hand.

Two of the victims were transported to Allegheny General Hospital in nearby Pittsburgh, and the other was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville. Thankfully, none of the injuries seem to be life-threatening.

Police who arrived at the crime scene found Hampton within minutes, and he surrendered without incident, Lower Burrell police Chief John Marhefka said. He had left the Firehall with the mother of his unborn child, police said. He has since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person.
