"He is pure love," his wife Emma Heming Willis wrote in her video dedication.
With affection, humor, and a birthday serenade, Bruce Willis' family is commemorating his special day! On Willis' 68th birthday, ex-wife Demi Moore shared a number of posts on social media with adorable images and a video to give fans a glimpse into the celebrations.
Nine images of the actor with the combined Willis-Moore family were included in Moore's Instagram post, including one image with each of the actor's girls with Moore, pregnant Rumer Willis, 34; Scout LaRue Willis, 31; and Tallulah Willis, 29, per TODAY. There were also images of Willis's two younger daughters, Evelyn Penn, 8, and Mabel Ray, 10, alongside his present spouse, Emma Heming Willis. The lovely image carousel was captioned, “More from Bruce’s birthday, yesterday.”
Moore, who was married to Willis from 1987 to 2000, also shared a candid home video on Instagram of the family — including his wife Emma Heming Willis and their children — singing an elaborate version of "Happy Birthday" and serving a dessert with candles. Willis' family joined in the cheers, and he started grinning and pumping his arm in the air, per PEOPLE. Then, amid loud cheers and an ovation, he blew out his birthday candles, followed by a chorus of "Hip-hip, hooray!" The lovely video was captioned, “Happy birthday, BW! So glad we could celebrate you today. Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes — we all feel them.”
The 68-year-old actor was recently diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, and the actor's family expressed the grief they felt ahead of his birthday celebrations. Emma and his daughter Scout opened up about grief associated with the day. Emma took to Instagram to discuss her husband's struggles, where she said, "Sometimes in our lives, we have to put our big girl panties on and get to it. And that's what I'm doing." She continued, "But I do have times of sadness, every day, grief every day, and I'm really feeling it today on his birthday." She later also posted a video montage featuring throwback moments between Bruce Willis and his daughters. "He is pure love. He is so loved. And I'll be loving him always," Heming wrote in the caption.
Scout also posted something along similar lines on Instagram, sharing that her dad's birthday is a day of not just joy but also grief. "It is not necessarily an easy day, because it's a day full of so deep love, and our grief really does show us the depth of our loving for someone," Scott noted, "I'm trying to be with both today." She added, "Grief is a price I'll always pay to know what it is to feel such love. I'm sending my love to anyone who has ever felt the capacity stretched by the enormity of love and the humanness of grief. I love you."
