"I was very concentrated on my career, but at a certain point, I realized there was something missing — it was a child," Donna Mills said.
Donna Mills, a well-known American actress who debuted in the 1960s and dominated the screens for many years, is in a happy place in life with her partner. Since 2001, 82-year-old Mills and 73-year-old Larry Gilman have been a couple. Gilman, an actor, and producer born in New York on April 3, 1950, is best known for his roles in the films Final Destination and Cool Runnings, as well as the television series M*A*S*H. Living the rest of her life with the love of her life, Mills shared that she is having a great time with her loved ones around her. The actor also shared how motherhood and then finding love at 60 was the best moment of her life, per PEOPLE.
Gilman has maintained a beautiful connection with his talented and loving partner despite being ten years his junior. The Secret Storm actress raved in 2015 about her then-boyfriend of 14 years, who enjoyed showering her with the most romantic and thoughtful gifts as per Closer Weekly. In a 2022 edition of PEOPLE, the actress—best known for her legendary portrayal of vixen Abby Fairgate on the popular Dallas spin-off Knots Landing—discussed how she carved out her own distinct professional path in Hollywood as well as a complete life off-screen, which includes becoming a mother in her 50s.
"I was very concentrated on my career, but at a certain point, I realized there was something missing — it was a child. So I went after it. I adopted her when she was four days old. By that time, I was 54 and people said, 'You're going to be so old [to] have a little toddler running around.' I never felt that. I never felt older than the other mothers who were probably in their 20s," she told the outlet as she recalled the time when she decided to adopt a baby girl.
Mills continued to rise up the success ladder after giving her ground-breaking performance in Clint Eastwood's 1971 directorial debut Play Misty for Me, but she was never given the chance to fall in love again until she adopted her daughter, Chloe. After seven years, she met Gilman, who was well-known for his CBS show. Gilman is portrayed by Mills as a loyal and caring lover who expresses his love through his concrete deeds. Gilman is a businessman and expert business adviser in addition to being an actor and movie director. Talking further about being a mom she said that if one wants to do well in a career they should work when young and then look forward to nurturing a family.
"I took off 18 years. I didn't work. Well, the first couple of years, I did work. I did some movies for television and stuff like that because I could take her wherever I went. But then when she started school, I wasn't going to go out of town for two months at a time. And I didn't become a mother to give her to a nanny," she told the outlet.
