“When [the grandkids] come over, they like to go check their tree out,” Donny Osmond revealed.
Donny Osmond, the renowned singer, dancer, actor, and TV host, has encountered numerous challenges throughout his life. Amid debilitating anxiety, near bankruptcy, and numerous career setbacks, he has recognized the value of family. He has been married to his wife Debbie Osmond for 40 years, and together, they have raised five sons. From the early stages of his career, Osmond recognized the significance of prioritizing family above all else. He considers his family to be the most essential aspect of his life and deeply cherishes his family, including his 14 grandchildren.
He and his wife have created a special play area for them at their house in Utah, featuring beautiful waterfalls, extravagant gardens, and an orchard where Osmond has planted a fruit tree for each grandchild, he told Closer magazine. “I have fruit trees that I planted in my orchard — one for each of my grandchildren. We have an apple, peach, nectarine, pear, and cherry,” the former Dancing With the Stars contestant said. “When they come over, they like to go check their tree out,” he added.
The wooded section of their backyard also includes a large fire pit where the entire family gathers to enjoy making s'mores and engaging in heartfelt conversations. “It’s just a place where my family can come and convene. There’s a big fire pit where we can make s’mores and talk with a stream that almost wraps around this fire pit. It’s covered by pine trees and you feel like you’re just out in the woods or the mountains,” he shared with Closer.
Creating an environment founded on unconditional love has been of utmost importance to Osmond and his wife. They wanted their children to grow up understanding that love and security hold more value than material wealth. Regardless of any difficulties they may face, such as financial problems, Osmond's sons know they can always rely on their family for support during tough times. The place is very important to Osmond because it reflects the values he has in life, he told Utah Valley 360. "In the crazy world of entertainment, it is so comforting to live with my family in an area where we can just be a family. I know some people recognize me, but they are extremely polite."
Maintaining a successful career and a happy family requires a delicate balance, Osmond, told PEOPLE. He believes that leading a fulfilling life necessitates making certain sacrifices. "That's what balances my life out," he says. "Family is the most important thing, because the curtain will come down eventually, and then what do you have?" Even his kids agree. "My father puts his family first, and he has unique ways of expressing it — like his orchard where each tree is dedicated to each one of his grandchildren," says his eldest son, Donald Jr., 42. "Next to entertaining, my father's greatest gift is to show love, and he does that in a big way."
