There are some love stories that never die. Television personality and The Price Is Right host Drew Carey recently paid an emotional tribute to his ex-fiancée, Amie Harwick on his radio show, Sirius XM. And with every word of love he kept choking up.

Amie Harwick was a reputed sex-therapist and a mental health advocate of Hollywood. Carey, 61, and Harwick, 38, got engaged in 2018 but broke up in less than a year. On February 15, 2020, the news of Harwick's death broke. It was reported that she was robbed and murdered at her home by an ex-boyfriend who was later arrested.

Although the former couple had parted ways almost a couple of years ago, Carey's breakdown on a live show made clear that he could never forget her or the beautiful relationship he had with her.

“Hi everybody, it’s Drew,” the star of the popular 90's show The Drew Carey Show said on his radio show. His voice was shaking, and he was clearly overcome with emotion as he started. “It’s a pretty rocking show, but I just wanted to let you know that my ex-fiancée, Amie, who I loved very much, was murdered the day after I recorded this so I didn’t want people to hear this and hear me be happy and fun and think I didn’t know it happened, or something.” Carey went on to dedicate a setlist of songs to Amie during the show.

He continued talking about what a wonderful soul she was. “Back in September 2018, I was in a beautiful, great, best relationship of my life with a woman named Amie Harwick,” he said crying. “She was a sex therapist and mental health advocate. She had a Ph.D. and a master’s degree, and she was beautiful and fun, and cared deeply about people and improving their lives, and was just a joy to be around. I was so in love with her,” PEOPLE reported.

Carey, who always sent the setlists for his Sirius XM show to Harwick throughout their relationship, went on to say that one week he made a special set just for her.

“This one week I said, ‘Hey I made a set for you.’ And she said, ‘Oh really?’ and I said, ‘Yeah.’ I played it for her and she teared up,” he continued, adding that they played “this set of music all the time for each other.”

“We would sing the words in each other’s ears. We would hold each other and dance in the kitchen to it and slow dance in the bathroom to it, and the office, living room or where we were. I would hold her and we would hold hands in the car and listen to it. We would sing to each other,” he said, overwhelmed with emotions. “All these songs were so important to us and I want to play them for you, so you can hear how much we loved each other through these songs.”

“I just want to say, I’m so broken up,” he added. “Even after we broke up, we still loved each other very much. Even though we broke up the engagement, I was still so in love with her. And she loved me back.”

“I could never hear these songs again without thinking of her so this next set is for Amie Harwick, a beautiful person who didn’t deserve to die like she did. I loved her very much,” he confessed. "Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist," Carey shared in his statement. "I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation," reported ET.

On February 18, Carey shared an adorable photo of himself with Harwick captioned, "I hope you’re lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did."

It's true that we live in a world where love seems to be losing its essence and many-a-time relationships come to a bitter end, but Carey has restored our faith in the fact it's hard to fall out of love when you have seen its true face. Our prayers for the departed souls and condolences for Carey who is struggling to come to terms with this harsh reality.
