More than 30 years ago Emma Roberts' famous aunt Julia Roberts worked with Richard Gere in the hit movie, Pretty Woman. Now Emma and Gere are starring together in a new movie titled Maybe I Do which was released in theaters just last month in January 2023. It's also interesting to note that Susan Sarandon who also appeared with Julia in the 1998 comedy-drama Stepmom, is also part of the film. Apart from them, the film also stars William H. Macy and Diane Keaton, who plays Emma's mom.

The coincidence wasn't lost on Emma who seemed excited to work with her aunt Julia Roberts' two-time leading man Richard Gere adding "to get to work with him felt like full circle." It just made "so much sense" to the 31-year-old that Gere, 73, would play her father in the upcoming romantic comedy. At a special screening of Maybe I Do in New York City on Tuesday, she told Page Six, "I loved him in Runaway Bride and Pretty Woman." She added, "Obviously, he's worked with my aunt, so to get to work with him felt like full circle."

Speaking of her Oscar-winning aunt, Emma agreed that it felt like Julia was "passing the torch" on to her in working with Gere. "It's not something we talked about, but I was so excited to work with him because Runaway Bride is one of my favorite movies that they did," Emma told PEOPLE on Tuesday. She couldn't stop gushing about her other famous co-stars as well. "Stepmom is an iconic movie that they worked together on," Emma told the outlet of Julia and Sarandon, 76. "So it was really fun to get to work with people that I've seen in some of my favorite movies."

The actress was also excited to work with another veteran actress, Diane Keaton. “I feel like I could just watch a live stream of Diane Keaton all day because she is just so funny and so smart and so talented,” she explained. “Even her mannerisms are so Diane Keaton. So, it was just really fun just to share breathing space with her,” she added.

It was nothing but love all around with Gere also praising Emma and her talent. He confessed that the star "has one of the most difficult roles" in the new romantic comedy. "Obviously I loved working with her aunt, but she's her own person. She has her own career and does things her own way," Gere said.
