Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have been together for over a decade and share two children. But the notoriously private couple never publically confirmed whether they are married or not. Now the actress is taking a trip down memory lane and recalling the first time she met her longtime partner Ryan Gosling. For the 10th anniversary of the release of The Place Beyond the Pines, she shared a series of snaps from the film set. "Luke & Romina," the 49-year-old captioned her April 4 Instagram post. "Mi socia @scondito just sent me this telling me it's been 10 years since this film came out. Feels like lifetimes ago."
According to E! News, the couple who now share daughters, Amada, 6, and Esmeralda, 8, first met while filming the movie back in 2011. While they have never confirmed their marital status, Mendes sent fans into a tizzy when she referred to Gosling as her husband in November of last year. "I'm loving it here," she said of Australia during an interview with Today Australia on November 17. "My husband Ryan is here and our children are here. We're having the best time."
Although she met her husband later in life she is glad she stuck to her decision to start a family only when she felt ready. Mendes proudly spoke about why she chose to become a mother after 40 during an interview with Hoda Kotb on the TODAY show last year. "Something really crazy happened. I met Ryan Gosling, I fell in love with Ryan Gosling,” the Hitch star said. “Then I was like, Oh, right, I want to create life with you.” The mom-of-two continued, “But really consciously, I did want to wait till I was a little bit older … As a woman, I just wasn’t ready. And it’s such a personal choice for a woman, obviously,” adding, “Thankfully I had really healthy pregnancies, and I was happy I waited.” When asked what it was about meeting Gosling that made her finally decide to have kids, Mendes said simply, “That’s when it made sense.”

Mendes also opened up about how the couple raises their kids without "gender-specific roles" in a June Forbes interview. "Hopefully it's showing my girls that there are no gender-specific roles that one must take on and that we are partners in this and that we're all partners in this, not just Ryan and I, but our children as well," she told the publication. "It's a team effort every day, so if they see him and me switching off doing certain things that again aren't specific to stereotypical gender things, I think that just creates balance and harmony," Mendes added.
