Recently NASA made the world and the internet go into a frenzy after unveiling a new zodiac sign. Everyone was shocked and left questioning their beliefs of all these years. While the Librans definitely felt out of balance, the Scorpios were anguished because they could no longer blame their stubbornness on their sign!

The 13th sign, Ophiuchus, identified as a constellation in a blog post back in 2016, was added into the zodiac wheel by the space agency. The post revealed that around 3,000 years ago the Babylonians came up with the zodiac signs. They decided to divide the sky into 12 equal parts in correspondence to the 12 months of the year, as reported by The Sun.

So where did the 12 signs come from? Well, the movement of the sun was studied by the ancient astrologers according to the placement of the constellations in the sky, and thus came the existence of the 12 zodiac signs. Pronounced "Oh-few-kuss", "The snake bearer" was left disregarded as a sign because it didn't fall under the mathematically pleasing category.

So we may conclude that Ophiuchus had always been in the sky waiting to be acknowledged. But why wasn't it recognized for so long? A far as the astrologers are concerned, the 13th sign was left behind on purpose because the star signs are based on seasons and not on the constellations like everyone believes, reported The Sun.

So, it completely depends on the astrologists if they want to include Ophiuchus during reading or not because the star signs are placed along the four seasons on the zodiac wheel.

Now, since we know about the origin of the 13th sign let's unveil the rest of the mystery.

According to Find Your Fate, while the rest of the zodiacs feature either animals or women, Ophiuchus is the only sign that shows a man wrestling a snake. It is associated with a real person Imhotep, also known as Serpentarius, and known by the ancient Greeks as Aesclepius, reports Bustle, who resided in Egypt in the 27th century BCE.

Not many experiences can be identified with the sign since it does not have an opposite sign like the others. Since it falls after Scorpio, the dates November 29 to December 17 belong to Ophiuchus which means former Sagittarians have a new identity.

Sometimes people might find you a bit judgemental or jealous but you mesmerize them with your beauty, incredible sense of humor, and empathy. Your curiosity, smartness, creativity, and passion towards whatever that you do help you overcome the ignorable procrastinating side of yours. People adore you for your brutal honesty, and openness to change.

Compatibility

No element has been assigned to Ophiuchus but according to Bustle, the sign looks like a dynamic one and hence could be a fire sign, reports Astro Fame. Keeping the potential element in mind, a Pisces could be your best choice for compatibility since they are a water sign.

Both the signs accept changes and new experiences with open arms and are passionate about adventure. A fellow Ophiucus could be an option too. But you might want to keep your distance from Aquarius, Leo, Virgo, and Taurus.
