After more than a decade of hearing the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. stars state that there was a very low chance of a reunion, it looks like fans finally got their wish.
When F.R.I.E.N.D.S first came out in 1994 on NBC, none of the cast including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer expected the show to explode in popularity the way it did. But it did and though it ended in 2004 after 10 successful seasons, it's just as binge-worthy as it was earlier. So when talks of a reunion came up, fans were more than excited. It got even more hyped after fans saw a photo of all the cast members in a selfie at Aniston's place on her Instagram.
Now, the reunion has been confirmed, leading fans all across the globe to rejoice! The cast is reuniting for an exclusive untitled unscripted special on HBO Max, according to Variety. They will head to Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank, the original soundstage for the show, to celebrate the long-running series. Perry who played Chandler Bing confirmed it when on his newly-formed Instagram, he simply wrote, βItβs happening," alongside a photo of the cast from the 1990s, stated The Guardian. With the same picture and caption, Aniston (Rachel Green), Cox (Monica Geller), Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), and Schwimmer (Ross Geller), posted on their social media pages.
Following suit, LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbiani, also took to Instagram to share the confirmation. With the same caption as theirs, the only difference was that the photo posted was that of the cast of the show, M.A.S.H. And that post had Aniston, Kudrow, and Cox commenting on it with, "Oh no...π₯Ί No no no NO LeBlanc! Could that BE more NOT what we said to post???π€¦πΌββοΈ," "Ha! They Do look like us...π,", and "Uh no Matt. Wrong reunion," respectively.
Sources in the inner cirle mention that each of the actors, who did well flying solo as well, will be receiving at least $2.5 million each for participating in the special. βGuess you could call this the one where they all got back together β we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire βFriendsβ library,β said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max and president of TBS, TNT, and truTV, in a statement.
βI became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends β and audiences β gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.β
Fans of the show, both celebrities and non-celebrities could not contain their excitement for this reunion finally taking place after 16 years.

Under Aniston's post, Modern Family star, Sarah Hyland posted, "EXCUSE ME?! πππππππππππ." Rita Wilson commented, "Iβll have what sheβs having!!! Whaaaaaaaaaat???" while co-star Reese Witherspoon, who also appeared as a guest on the show as Rachel Green's sister said, "HOLY COW!!! This is π―π"
Well, we're all just as pumped to see this reunion happening and we can't wait for more details on it. Though we are eagerly awaiting this last show, we can't help but think about all the great guest stars as well during the original run of the show including Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Susan Sarandon, George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Jennifer Coolidge, Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and so many more. But even so, it doesn't diminish the rush of emotions we have at this reunion!
