How George Clooney and Amal Found True Love When They Had Stopped Looking for It

Finding the greatest love of your life is no mean feat. People search for years before finding the one, and lovebirds George and Amal Clooney had to do the same.

At the age of 58, George Clooney is happily married to the love of his life. A joy that not everyone experiences in their life. Whether you find that person early or late in life, when you find that person your entire life changes. When he met her, he didn't know if he wants to marry ever again. His first marriage had failed more than two decades ago in 1993 and he never remarried until 2014. However, one never knows when true love is destined for everyone.

Amal too had been unlucky in love until then. In fact, when she met him at the age of 35 she was starting to become quite resigned to the idea that she was going to be a spinster. In seven months, he changed her life when the two fell in love head over heels. Between hiding their love from the press in the initial days to becoming parents together, the Hollywood power couple has now become the golden pair.

At an event honoring George in 2018, she spoke her heart out for the first time in public. We have already known how much he loves her since he leaves no chance to praise her, but it was the first time that Amal spoke about the "amazing husband and father".

"Then we met and started hiding out in my London flat and very soon it felt like, no matter what happened, I would never want to be with anyone else... I couldn’t sleep when we were apart and I’m told that I would display a particular grin and head-tilt when reading his text messages or the letters he would hide in my bag. Five years later, none of that has changed. He is the person who has my complete admiration and also the person whose smile makes me melt every time," she said at the AFI Life Achievement Gala, according to The Hollywood Reporter

A teary-eyed Amal continued, "My love, what I have found with you is the great love I always hoped existed. And seeing you with our children, Ella and Alexander, is the greatest joy in my life." The hardened human rights lawyer who is more at ease in a court than in public declarations of her love for her husband did not want to give up this chance to celebrate him.

She started her speech by telling the world what a gentleman he is. "He is a gentleman in every sense of the word and in a way that seems so rare these days and perhaps even outdated," she said. That night was meant for George to shine and Amal, the loving wife, made sure that everyone there was introduced to who the real George Clooney is: a great father and husband above all else. She let everyone know that she feels "immense pride" at everything he has achieved.

George, the A-list actor, with his Kentucky manners and charming ways, wooed her completely with his unexpected proposal. The only time George sets aside his Kentucky manners is when he plays pranks on people, but even otherwise he never lets humor out of his life. He told Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning, according to People, that when he proposed "it was completely unexpected".

"So finally I just said ‘Listen, I’m 52 [at the time] and I’ve been on my knee now for about 28 minutes, so I gotta get an answer out of this or I’m gonna throw a hip out!” he said. For a man, who has lived and loved well before he finally met his soul mate, when he says that “I’ve never been happier in a relationship by any stretch of the imagination" it is a momentous love. It is indeed a life-changing love.

He had told Esquire, “At 52 I found the love of my life and I’m really happy.” He further added, “I have someone I can talk to about anything and someone who I care about more than I’ve cared about anything, so it’s really nice.”

When you realize that your partner is more important to you than yourself, a calm settles in because you know you have found the one. On My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, he said, “I met someone who I would absolutely trade my life for,” he said. “I met someone, who, her life meant more to me than my life. I had never had that experience before," according to People.

Now, as a father of twins, he is enjoying fatherhood at the age of 58. "I'm a very good diaper guy which I didn't know I would be," he once told the Hollywood Reporter. He is also the same person who spent lonely nights awake with only his dog in his 6-bedroom home. "That seems like a lifetime ago. Now my house is filled with the warm sounds of babies crying. You should see when my friends show up and see me change a diaper, the laughter that comes from them. I go, 'I know, I know.' I've given them so much s--t for so many years, I deserve every bit of it," he laughs about it now.

From a dedicated bachelor to a complete family man, each of his phases has been widely recorded by the press, but nobody has seen him as happy as he is now.
