The couple, who aren't married, made their choices and have perfected a balance over the years.

Love is a funny thing. It works for some, it fails for others. But if there's one couple that's still going strong, it's none other than Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. The two of them have been together since Valentine's Day in 1983, celebrating 39 years together in 2022.
The couple shares a son Wyatt Russell, and they both have children from previous relationships, according to Hello! Magazine. Goldie is mom to Oliver and Kate Hudson, whom she shares with ex-husband Bill Hudson, while Kurt has a son, Boston Russell, with ex-wife Season Hubley.
In an interview with PEOPLE in 2020, Hawn, 77, opened up about how Russell, 72, still made her feel beautiful after all these years together. “The other night we were going to go have dinner. He looks at me and goes, ‘You’re unbelievable,'” she said at the time. “‘He said I cannot believe how [beautiful] you look.’ He really appreciates that.”
The couple has been together for so long but they've never been married. Over the years, they've been asked multiple times as to why they've chosen to be together, but unmarried, and Hawn finally has an answer for it.
"I would have been long divorced if I’d been married. Marriage is an interesting psychological thing. If you need to feel bound to someone, then it's important to be married. If you have independence, if you have enough money and sense of independence and you like your independence, there’s something psychological about not being married because it gives you the freedom to make decisions one way or the other."
"For me, I chose to stay. Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice," she said.
Hawn also described their relationship as "a good unit." Over the decades, the couple has perfected a balance.
At home, Hawn agreed Russell is more low-key. "He can sit and watch his games. He loves golf and you know, he loves his home. In the meantime, I say, 'So no bike ride?'" she joked.
Over the years, the couple has also figured out what it is that they expect from each other in the relationship. “You want to stay in your power, but you also want to be forgiving. And you want to understand and have compassion for the other person,” Hawn says. “If you cannot do that, then you’re not giving yourself a real fair chance at a long-term relationship. And that’s a lesson that we all have to learn.”
Maybe it's time to take some notes from them, isn't it?
