Love comes in all shapes and sizes, and so does heartbreak. No two people split for the same reason, and while each breakup hurts as much as the other, finding out your partner cheated on you is never a nice feeling.
Take Gwen Stefani, for example. She was married to Bush frontman, Gavin Rossdale for 13 years, from September 14, 2002, to April 8, 2016.
The duo met while performing at a charity concert for KROQ Radio, and went on to share four beautiful children with one another. All was well amidst them for a while, until rumors of Rossdale's alleged affair made the rounds.
In fact, Rossdale reportedly had a three-year affair with the family nanny, per PEOPLE. Some reports even went as far as to assert that Gavin would bring the nanny on tour with him and have sex with her in the band's bus.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Stefani spoke about the time when her personal life was the topic of discussion in every nook and cranny. It was the beginning of hell. Like six, seven, eight months of torture, trying to figure out this big secret." Stefani said, adding that she wanted to "tell everybody," but kept mostly quiet for the sake of her children.
At that point, Stefani's life had fallen apart. How could it not? She had just found out that the love of her life had cheated on her. She had no hope she would ever find love again, but that's how funny life can be. Gwen admitted during a segment on the TODAY show that she never intended on finding love again. But once she allowed herself to be open and vulnerable to the possibility—love found her, in the form of Blake Shelton.
Stefani and Shelton had gotten close while judging The Voice together. They got along well, given how they had similar stories to share. As Gwen explained to The New York Times, she and he were going through "literally the exact same thing in literally the exact same time frame."
Initially, the couple faced a lot of criticism, since Stefani is older than Shelton, but the two of them remained unfazed and focused solely on their relationship.
But, to be honest, Shelton was a blessing in disguise for her. "I feel so excited that I have someone in my life that now I have a chance at happiness for a long time to come," she told TODAY. "It’s just a blessing, the whole thing. It’s a miracle."
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are proof that life will always give you second chances.
