Gwen Stefani was previously married to Gavin Rossdale, who cheated on her. On Father's Day, she chose to honor Blake Shelton rather than her sons' father.
Not everyone who has kids can be a good parent. Sometimes, the biological fathers are fathers only in name and it is the stepfathers, who show up every day, showing what it means to be a dad. This Father's Day, Gwen Stefani, who was once married to musician Gavin Rossdale and with whom she has three sons, Kingston Rossdale, 14, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, 11, and Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, 6, chose to honor another man in her life.
Stefani, whose career has spanned decades has seen many ups and downs through it, but it is her role as a mother which she enjoys the most. And, in this journey, is her beau Blake Shelton, the famed country singer, who has been by her side. The Hollaback Girl singer thanked her partner of five years for the support he's given her in raising her three sons from her previous marriage.
"Happy father’s day @blakeshelton thank u for helping me raise these boys!! #weloveyou! G❤️K❤️Z❤️A gx" she wrote as a caption with several photos of Shelton with her children. In the photos, the three boys and Shelton look like they are an integral part of each other's lives. In one photo, he's posing with a fish and an excited Apollo Bowie. In another one, he's posing with Stefani's older boys in a loving way.
She also posted a photo of her father, Dennis Stefani, whom she calls "Poppie." "happy father’s day poppie we love you!! #bestdadever," she posted along with a bunch of photos of him with her sons. In one of them, Shelton can be seen kissing Dennis on the cheek. This sweet father-boyfriend bonding will warm your hearts. (Swipe right to see more photos.)
The couple, who were co-judges on The Voice. has reportedly been together since 2015 and that would have given Shelton enough time to spend with her sons. In May, Shelton was seen in a video with Kingston on his 14th birthday showering the teen with love. Stefani had posted the video of the man she calls her "best friend" on Instagram. Shelton kisses the boy on his cheek until the teenager, just like any other boy that age, extricated himself from the bear hug but with a smile on his face.
Stefani, who's enjoying her life as a mom and as a partner to Shelton, revealed to Good Morning America in June 2018 that she actually forgets how much she likes to perform live until she's on stage. "I don’t miss it at all. I'm so good to do my kids and do mom and hang out with my cute Blakey and all that but then when I get up there I realize it's in there still and I'm like, 'OK, I need this attention still. I like it,'" she said with a laugh.
The 50-year-old singer doesn't shy away from showing her appreciation for her 44-year-old boyfriend. "He's my homeboy. He's my homey. He's just really an amazing all-around human so I feel so grateful for that," she said. "I celebrate him in the show! He's inspired me so much. He's changed my life."
Compared to her last relationship, where Rossdale cheated on her with their nanny, a phase in her life she called "hell", according to Harper's Bazaar, Stefani is much happier. She said she was in a "really amazing place," as per GMA.
Meanwhile, Shelton, who is also divorced, believes that God has a hand in them coming together. "Both of us know that the timing, and the way she and I met and came together, it just felt like home, that's not an accident," Shelton said in a recent interview with ET. "I think that the way that she and I were able to save each other's lives and get ourselves through that time it was evidence to us that God had a hand in it," he added.
In 2019, she wished Shelton on his birthday and called him her "favorite human." "Can’t believe your mine ❤️🤷♀️ #soooooolucky!!!!" she captioned a post featuring snaps of Shelton.
This year, on his birthday, she posted a photo of themselves. She captioned it, "happy birthday @blakeshelton thank u for being my best friend 🥳🎂gx #luckyme #june18th [sic]."
