"We are so different, but yet we’re so the same on so many levels." said Stefani.
Gwen Stefani strongly believes that higher energy brought her together and closer with Blake Shelton. “God just put us together,” said the singer on The Drew Barrymore Show on November 2, Wednesday. Stefani was previously married to Gavin Rossdale and has three kids with him. After their divorce, the 53-year star said she was feeling hopeless. Now, Stefani and Shelton have been engaged for over two years after being together for more than five years and they tied the knot in July 2021, per PEOPLE.
Stefani first met Shelton while working as a coach on The Voice. Back then, Shelton was married to country music superstar, Miranda Lambert, and Stefani was married to Rossdale. They divorced their partners in 2015. Stefani says that she didn't see the "miracle situation" coming. She continued, “I was like, ‘I’m going to wake up every day. I’m going to have a coffee. I’m going to take care of my kids and then I’m going to go to bed.’ Like, I’m never going to kiss anyone, I’m never going to — you know me, I thought my life was over. And then Blake Shelton’s like, ‘Hey! I’m Blake Shelton,’” per TODAY.
In an interview in 2016, Shelton said, "Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorce," according to Independent. Stefani also found in Shelton everything she was looking for in a life partner. “Finding a best friend, someone that is on the same plane when it comes to morals or just the way you look at life, that’s the dream, you know what I mean?” she said.
She thinks that they are similar yet different. “Just having someone that, we think the same about things. Yeah, we’re so different. He’s watching football and doing the stuff that he does and I’m putting makeup on, so whatever. We are so different, but yet we’re so the same on so many levels.”
They enjoy being with each other. “It’s been amazing since I met Blake,” she said. “Oh, my God. I’m like, ‘Ahh! Stop asking me questions.’ Yeah, we’re having so much fun. He’s my bestie. We have so much fun together.”
Meanwhile, Stefani admitted that she might not make it past the first round of The Voice. "And I feel like my voice has been, it’s like a character voice. Some of these singers are so technically incredible that come on the show, they’re so gifted as singers, so I don’t know if a show like The Voice I would get a chair turn like I feel like I could get someone to listen to it on the radio, but it’s just different."
