Harrison Ford is no stranger in Hollywood. From shooting to immense fame worldwide with his role of Han Solo in Star Wars to playing the lead in the widely popular Indiana Jones franchise, his acting prowess has not gone unnoticed. But it isn't just the film world that he struck gold. His personal life has also seen a great deal of success.

The 76-year-old actor may have had his fair share of broken marriages and relationships, but he found love eventually - in 2002 with Ally McBeal actress, Calista Flockhart.

The couple met at the 2002 Golden Globes where he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award. Smitten with Calista immediately, they began dating. However, the pair had to keep mum about their relationship as Harrison, though separated from his second wife, Melissa Mathison, was still married to her.

So their secret romance stayed as such until finally, in 2003, Harrison was ready to tell the world that he was madly in love. In 2003, he spilled the beans to Hello! Magazine about the new love of his life.

"I’m in love. Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did," said Ford, according to People. Like a dam that opened up, the papers were flooded with pictures of the duo hand-in-hand on several occasions. And in most of the photos, you couldn't miss the adoration they had for each other.

For about seven and a half years, the two kept dating. Until 2009. That was the year that would remain etched in their memories as Harrison finally got down on one knee and asked Calista to marry him while they were on their Valentines's Day vacation. The next year, the couple got married in Santa Fe, Mexico in a very casual and intimate ceremony. And casual meant that Harrison was wearing Wrangler jeans while Calista donned a simple white sundress.

Though the couple has 22 years of age difference between them, Calista claims that it isn't an issue for them. “It doesn’t faze me. Sometimes I even say, ‘Wow, I keep forgetting that he’s 22 years older than me’. It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all. I like the way he looks first thing in the morning. It’s not handsome, it’s more cute. He looks like a little boy,” said the actress in an interview in 2003, according to People.

There were skeptics who doubted that they would last, but with the couple who recently celebrated their ninth year of marriage certainly proved them wrong. Especially since the two have been together for 17 years. When asked about how they managed to stay together, Calista told Closer Weekly that they make each other laugh. Fox News quoted the 52-year-old actress as saying, “Harrison and I laugh a lot, and humor is everything to me."

But it isn't just laughter that strengthens their love for each other. It's the fact that they are there for each other during good times and bad. In 2015, Harrison was in a near-fatal plane crash and Calista was with him the whole time. "Calista spent most of the weekend on Harrison’s side. She arrived early every morning and returned home late every night. She was under stress,” said a source to People.

Her devotion spills over to other areas of their life as she not only aided him with his injuries but also shared his love for flying. “My wife, who is a wonderful lady, understands my passion for aviation, she understands what it means to me and flies with me to this day,” Harrison said after the crash, according to People.

The couple enjoys their relationship along with their son, Liam, who was adopted by Calista in 2001. An insider spoke about this to People and said “Harrison and Calista are all about family life. Their life before and after they got married is focused on Liam."
