Over the weekend in Texas, a wrong-way motorist struck and killed a pregnant mother, her boyfriend, and their two kids. According to a press statement from Lubbock police, Melodi Boivin, 21, Xavier Caballero, 23, and their children, Marcellus, 2, and Lezlie, 1, were all killed in the early-morning crash on a Lubbock roadway. Just before 1:30 a.m. on May 6, Saturday, George Wallace, 46, who was operating his SUV on the other side of the road, struck the family's minivan head-on as it was moving in the right lane of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. Wallace also perished in the collision as per reports.

Around 2:30 a.m. LPD confirmed three fatalities with two additional deaths being confirmed around 4 a.m. after two people succumbed to injuries in Lubbock hospitals. Because of the complexities in notifying families of all of the victims, police said they don't anticipate being able to publicly identify them until Monday, May 8 reports the Lubbock Avalanche Journal. According to the announcement, the kids, who were both in car seats, were transferred to University Medical Center where doctors declared them dead. Police stopped the interstate on Sunday to further investigate and map the collision.

According to a GoFundMe page created by Bailey Bryan, Xavier's cousin, the family was "struck by a drunk driver." The money raised will be used to pay for the victims' funeral services since their families "are going through a huge tragedy and need all the help they can get." Bryan pleaded for assistance on behalf of the two families who had lost not just one but four people in the tragedy. “His family has asked me to set up a go-fund-me for them. All proceeds will go to the funeral arrangements approved by both sides of the family,” reads the fundraiser.

“These two families are going through a huge tragedy and need all the help they can get. My cousin and his family were struck by a drunk driver. It killed all members in the vehicle, my cousin Xavier (23), his wife Melodie (21), Marcellus aka Marshmallow(2 going on 3), and Lezlie (1 going on 2). Melodie was also expecting, so another life was lost,” added the cousin about the deceased family. “Please help these two families as they lost not just one, but four and more in this tragedy,” it concluded with many people donating and praying with their deep condolences for the tragedy that occurred.
