Helen Mirren came with a special guest at the Shazam! Fury of the Gods premiere in Los Angeles on March 14. The Oscar-winning actress, 77, walked the red carpet with her grandson Basil, as per Good Morning America. The pre-teen is believed to be the son of Alexander Hackford, Mirren's youngest stepson. He wore a blue button-down with black jeans and black sneakers. Mirren wore her curly locks to one side, with a black headband to match her lace gown. The Queen actress completed the glamorous look with glittering silver drop earrings, two massive sparklers on her hand, and a slick of pink lipstick. In addition to Alexander, she is also stepmother to husband Taylor Hackford's older son, Rio.

The adorable duo held hands and posed for pictures as they walked the red carpet with Zachary Levi, who plays the movie's titular superhero, as well as Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler. In the film, a sequel to 2019's Shazam!, the seventh installment in the DC Extended Universe, Mirren, Liu, and Zegler play goddesses from Greek mythology, Hespera, Kalypso, and Anthea, respectively.

Mirren also spoke to the New York Times about preparing for her character in the movie, "It’s a different psychology because you don’t have to deal with normal human psychology, which is great. We didn’t have to consider 'Why is this villain doing this? Was she abandoned by her mother at a young age?'" She added, "My stand-in did some of a scene when we walk through a marketplace and I was telling her how to do it like a goddess, 'You have to walk as if you’re walking through honey or cream or butter or whatever. You have to absolutely own the space'.”

The actress revealed that she chose not to use a stunt double for several scenes of the upcoming superhero sequel to 2019's Shazam! though not all of them went smoothly. "I did some of my own stunts, but I broke my finger," Mirren said during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. "I was incredibly brave and didn't say anything or complain because I wanted to be a real 'stunty' person," she added. Mirren further shared that she wanted to star in the film because she "loved the first Shazam," calling it "sweet and funny."

Mirren also said of her role, "We are angry goddesses wearing unbelievably heavy costumes. It was very hot and uncomfortable and in fact, Lucy said at the end of the first day's shooting, 'They are trying to kill us' in all seriousness." She said, "I am not a big superhero type of person, but I loved the idea of it and happily signed up for the second one," adding, "It is great." Mirren will also be seen later this year in Fast X, reprising her role as Magdalene "Queenie" Shaw in the franchise, when the film hits theaters May 19.
