"Together we have created a beautiful family. And life," wrote Hugh Jackman.
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have been together for almost three decades! The couple first met on the set of her Australian TV series Correlli and tied the knot in Australia in April 1996. They have been through a lot as a couple and now they are celebrating another year of togetherness. "I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!!" the 54-year-old Wolverine star wrote in the caption of an Instagram post, alongside a photo of himself and Furness, 67. "I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life." Listing all the qualities he loves about his wife he continued, "Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty is an incredible gift to me," he added in the caption. "I love you with all my heart."
The Logan star knew Furness was the one when they first met. His wife was a big star and a lot older than Jackman at the time. "I knew very early, I knew before Deb knew. Even when she tried to break up with me, I knew," he recalled on the podcast Aussies in Hollywood with Jenny Cooney in 2018. "She kind of [broke up with me], a little bit. Early on, three weeks in. I managed to talk her out of it, thank God," he recalled.
Jackman hasn't been absolutely sure about too many things in his life but he knew Furness was going to be his wife. "I'm a very indecisive person, Deb really knows this about me," he added at the time. "I can count on my hand the amount of times in my life anything has felt that clear to me, and when it happens it's such a relief for me."

Back in November 2020, Furness — who shares a son Oscar Maximilian, 22, and a daughter Ava Eliot, 17, with Jackman — discussed the importance of family with PEOPLE. "Family, to me, means you feel safe. I always use the expression, 'All of us need to know that we're precious'," she said. "So, with family, you've always got that you're important in someone else's life."
As to what makes their marriage work, Jackman once said it never felt like "work". The superstar told Hoda Kotb in a Today Show interview a couple of years ago that his marriage hasn't been all that hard. "People often say, 'Oh my god, marriage is so much work.' There are some things you gotta live by, but it doesn't feel like that," Jackman admitted. "It's been one of the best things in my life."
"Deb is the lightest, most optimistic person I've ever met in my life," he gushed. "Like, if you ever want to play who's the happiest person in the room? Deb wins."
