Iman Abdulmajid, wife of David Bowie, refuses to believe that her husband is no longer with her. She calls the singer her true love and says that she will never marry again.

The former supermodel spoke to Harper's Bazaar UK recently where she opened up about her relationship with the Space Oddity singer. "You know, this was my true love. My daughter once asked me if I would ever marry again and I said, 'never.'" The singer passed away in 2016 at the age of 69 after battling liver cancer.

The couple met each other at a party in 1990 and for the musician, it was love at first sight. Bowie told Hello! Magazine in 2000, “My attraction to her was immediate and all-encompassing. I couldn’t sleep for the excitement of our first date. That she would be my wife, in my head, was a done deal. I’d never gone after anything…with such passion in all my life.”

For Iman, it took time but she fell head over heels for the person Bowie really was. In an interview with The Guardian in 2004, she revealed, "Definitely I didn't want to get into a relationship with somebody like him. But as I always said: I fell in love with David Jones. I did not fall in love with David Bowie. Bowie is just a persona. He's a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met." In 1992, just two years after they met, Bowie and Iman walked down the aisle. They had a daughter Alexandria “Lexi” Zahra Jones in 2000.

The 65-year-old said that her life with the rock and roll genius was very "regular," but wishes they had more time together. "It could not have been more regular! It was a really everyday marriage. He was a very funny, warm gentleman – you know, everyone talks about him being futuristic, but no, he was not, he liked more than anything to wear a three-piece suit … It was a beautiful, ordinary life and that was what was great about it. We could live in New York, pick up our daughter from school, walk everywhere ... You know, I wish we had had more years."

Talking about how she feels about Bowie's death anniversaries, Iman said that there was a time when it was "the saddest time" for her. It would be the singer's five-year anniversary of his death on January 10 but Iman feels like the love of her life is still with her. "He’s hiding in plain sight. His fans are still around, his music is still relevant," she said, as per Harper's Bazaar.

The Heroes singer realized the seriousness of his cancer just three months before his demise, as per The Guardian. According to the documentary David Bowie: The Last Five Years, the singer was filming for his last single, Lazarus, when he was informed that he had to stop his treatment.

Sharing a heartwarming story from last year, Iman revealed that she was celebrating Bowie's death anniversary alone in the redwoods in San Francisco when something extraordinary happened. "I went on a hike and a bluebird flew in front of me. A bluebird, above all things!" she revealed. Interestingly, Bowie's last song, Lazarus, was released two days before his death and the lyrics went, “You know, I’ll be free. Just like that bluebird.”

According to Billboard, even the tour guide told her that bluebirds are "very rare" in the area and this little piece of information transformed Iman's feelings about the sad day. "Now, instead of remembering it as sad, it is more of a joyous day."
