Relationships that look good on paper need not actually work out in reality. We assume that two successful people with a lot in common would be great together but unless they have the same goals in mind, the relationship is unlikely to last. Learning this lesson and accepting the truth shows growth, which is more important than making a failing relationship last.

Bradley Cooper, 45, and Irina Shayk, 34, managed to keep their relationship out of the spotlight while dating between April 2015 and June 2019. Cooper and Shayk both got out of relationships in 2015 and when they started seeing each other, they kept it slow and quiet. "They’ve known each other for awhile,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “They have a good time together."

The couple went on to have a daughter, Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper, on March 21, 2017. The actor and the model with their beautiful child seemed like a happy little family. It certainly seemed so from the Silver Lining Playbook actor's words. "I guess having a child, and having a family of my own — which is a miracle and something I’ve always dreamt of — has opened me up even more, I guess, to the day, and to be present," he told NPR. The three-time Oscar nominee added, "That’s the thing I want my daughter to have — I just always want her to feel loved."

Everything seemed to be going well. The actor also expressed gratitude for Shayk while accepting his award for Best Original Music for A Star Is Born at the 2019 BAFTA Film Awards. "I … need to thank Irina for putting up with me while I was trying to make music in our basement for a year," he said. However, by the summer of that year, their paradise was lost.

Shayk opened up to British Vogue about the end of her relationship, and what she said might be more relatable to all of us than you think. "I think in all good relationships you bring your best and your worst - it’s just the nature of a human being," she explained. The model, who once dated one of the most famous soccer players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, said, "Two great people don’t have to make a good couple."

The 34-year-old has only good things to say about her former partner and father of her child. "I think we’ve been very lucky to experience what we had with each other," the model told British Vogue. "Life without B is new ground," she added.

She had to become tough at the age of 14 when her coal miner dad passed away. In a family of three women, she was the youngest. She grew up fast and decided to take care of the family. She brings that strength to everything she does. "I have a strong personality and I definitely know what I want, and I think some men are scared of that," she said. "If somebody’s out of my life, they’re out of my life and I really cut all the ties, you know? I think some people are really scared of this coldness. I also think not many people know that underneath this there’s a nice, sweet person who cries in interviews," she added.

Shayk and Cooper co-parent Lea and despite being a dedicated mom, she admits that it can get hard. "It’s hard to find a balance between being a single mom and being a working woman and provider. Trust me, there are days I wake up and I’m like, 'Oh my god, I don’t know what to do, I’m falling apart,'" she added. Her experience is a universal one as many working single moms would be able to relate to this.

Since the break-up, the bond between the couple is strong but they are platonic. "They are working out how to be single parents and co-parent their daughter together," a source told E!. "They both have been working and traveling a lot so there is always scheduling to figure out. They have a good system in place for Lea and they take turns with her. They also come together as a family and do things when they can. They communicate a lot and are good friends."
