James Van Der Beek and Wife Welcome Sixth Baby After Multiple Pregnancy Losses | They Had 2 Miscarriages Before This Blessing

"Each child brings their own energy, their own manifestation of consciousness, their own lessons. The ones we lost each gifted us with different pieces of the puzzle… leaving us that much more grateful for the ongoing master class we get to enjoy with this sweet, wise little one," James shared.

The Van Der Beeks have grown in size as a family, yet again!

The Dawson's Creek alum, 44, took to Instagram on November 22, 2021, to share that he and his wife Kimberly welcomed their sixth baby together, a son named Jeremiah Van Der Beek. The exciting news was accompanied by several photos of the family, including the newborn baby.

"Humbled and overjoyed to announce the safe, happy arrival of Jeremiah Van Der Beek ❤️ (We've been calling him Remi, btw - not "dinosaur" 🥰)," he captioned his post. "After experiencing late-term #pregnancyloss twice in a row (both at 17+ weeks), we kept this one quiet. Truthfully, I was terrified when I found out."

The actor and his wife are already parents to son Joshua, 9, and daughters Gwendolyn, 3, Emilia, 5, Annabel, 7, and Olivia, 11, according to PEOPLE.

The arrival of their little bundle of joy comes after the couple went through some tough times after their last two pregnancies ended in miscarriages.

James shared, "We found a doctor here in Texas who diagnosed the last two as having been caused by an: ‘incompetent cervix' (I asked him what kind of misogynistic old dude invented that term and he laughed—which made me like him even more. Now it's called a #WeakenedCervix)."

"A simple surgical cerclage was done, removed at full-term, @vanderkimberly gave birth naturally on the ranch… and here we are," he shares. "The medical books say to only look at a cerclage as an option after three late-term losses. Our doctor recommends considering it after one. Spread the word."

The ones we lost each gifted us with different pieces of the puzzle… leaving us that much more grateful for the ongoing master class we get to enjoy with this sweet, wise little one," James adds, going on to thank "everyone in our community" for their support and honoring of their privacy.

"Life is beautiful ❤️," James concludes the post.

James and Kimberly previously opened up about suffering multiple pregnancy losses including one in November 2019 and June 2020. She lost her first baby at 17.5 weeks and the second at 17 weeks.

Following the miscarriages, James and Kimberly partnered with the American Red Cross to raise awareness and encourage blood donations.

"My life was on the line," Kimberly told PEOPLE in May. "What saved my life was blood transfusions, people who donated blood. Without them, I probably would not be here."
