'50 Shades of Grey' Star Jamie Dornan Can't Get Enough of His Wife | "I’m More in Love with Her Today Than I Was at the Start"

The real Jamie Dornan is a far cry from the mysterious and intense character Christian Grey played on screen.

Actor Jamie Dornan had set the screen on fire when he donned the character of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey, written by E. L. James. He had shot into fame overnight thanks to the role and as a consequence, millions of women across the world fell in love with his rakish charms. However, the real man behind the character has always had eyes for one woman only. His wife Amelia Warner.

Their love story reportedly started when Dornan met Warner in 2007 at a party, according to Grazia. They have been together since 2010 and later moved in together in Notting Hill, a place that has a dreamy quality about it thanks to the eponymously named film. Dornan has been completely besotted with his love from the start.

Dornan told the Belfast Telegraph, "I was smitten with her from the start, I really was. I’m more in love with her today than I was at the start."

The Irish actor has been married to Warner since 2013 and the couple has three children together. They keep their personal life under wraps well but sometimes he can't stop gushing about his wife, who is a musician. While the three 50 Shades films were under production, they were constantly under media scrutiny but that did not hurt their relationship. It also helps that Warner has not seen the films.

She has always been supportive of his career and readily moved to Canada a week after the birth of their first child, Dulcie, since the actor was shooting for 50 Shades of Grey there. While there have been reports that she was unhappy about the explicit scenes, Dornan rubbished them.

Married for almost six years, the Once Upon a Time actor realizes that there are frustrating moments in a marriage but you can't stop loving your spouse. He told The Sunday Times Style magazine, "We get frustrated at times, usually when traveling with the kids, but we’d never let anything boil and become a thing. We know couples who are plate-throwers, but that’s just not us. I’m glad it’s not us - plates are expensive ..."

The actor added, "Certainly there’s never a day that I don’t tell her I love her." The father-of-three, who played a commitment-phobe in the 50 Shades franchise, further added, "Being a dad is the best. I feel a healthy and lovely duty to provide for my kids, and I really like it. It suits me. Making my kids happy is a good thing for my wife and me to be driven by."

The couple always wanted more children and they know how to celebrate being parents. Warner, in March 2019, shared a Mother's Day photo on Instagram putting the spotlight on her three daughters than herself. "So proud of these three glorious girls, it’s an honour being their mummy..feeling incredibly lucky today," she captioned the lovely photo.

Despite the massive spotlight on the young family, they have managed to keep away and maintained their privacy. Warner told the Independent, "Nothing has really changed in our lives since Fifty Shades. The biggest change for us was having kids. We now live in the Cotswolds, rather than London. We are very removed from all the hype. I don’t see that stuff in the papers."

Both of them are devoted parents who have learned to manage their careers and parenting, however, she took a year off after the birth of their first child.

"Once you have a baby, it slightly changes your perception. I knew I wanted to be in music but I wanted to be happy," she told Independent. She also added it is easier to pursue their careers with their young children now since traveling with them isn’t a problem. "They are so flexible at that age. They are just happy to be with us," said the mom-of-three.

Dornan shared with Ellen Degeneres that he dressed up as Tigger for his eldest daughter's birthday parties multiple times. He was actually sad when she moved on from it because this daddy loved making his daughter happy.

"I was quite said about [the end of the] Winnie the Pooh thing. I quite enjoyed that," he told the TV host.

Jamie is as good a father as he is a husband, who understands and supports his wife's career as much as she supports his. There are few women who would be as understanding as Warner has been. She stood by him even when his profession demanded a lot more of him than a wife would have been comfortable with. That says a lot about how strong their bond is.
