It was Momoa's childhood dream to be one with Bonnet. But he may never have imagined that it'll come true when he grows up!
Most of us would agree that during our teenage years nothing fascinated us more than the idea of love. Crushing over a classmate at school or trying to talk to that pretty girl/boy in the neighborhood, comprised a major part of our childhood. As we grew up, our definition of love changed and so did our crushes. But this isn't the case with Aquaman Jason Momoa. All his life, the star with gorgeous looks and locks loved one woman and made sure she completes his life by being a part of it.
While Jason Momoa and The Cosby Show star Lisa Bonet never shy away from confessing their love for each other, in his recent interview with Esquire magazine, Momoa poured his heart out. And their love story is the stuff romcoms are made of.
He revealed that he grew up admiring Lisa Bonet as Denise Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show. He said that she was "literally my childhood crush," adding, "I mean, I didn't tell her that. I didn't let her know I was a stalker until after we had the kids." Jason's dream came true when a mutual friend introduced him to Bonet in 2005, reports Popsugar. The year saw the blossoming of an awe-inspiring 14 years of romance.
In a 2017 interview with James Corden he revealed that he was bewitched by the beauty of Lisa Bonet at just age 8, reports People. "[I'd] just always wanted to meet her. She was a queen, always." However, things were different for Bonet. She confessed that it wasn't love-at-first-sight for her. She gradually got to know Momoa and fell for him eventually.
"I can't say it was full-on from the moment we saw each other, but we have been together from the day that we met," she said. It took a while, but when "love came and it came big, and he did not run as I think a lot of men do. He basically picked me up and threw me over his shoulder, caveman style!" she said as per Hollywood Life.
Years later, nothing has changed. Momoa still is head over heels in love with his wife and claims it with utmost pride. Be it their cute couple moments on social media or their public appearances together, where they look jaw-droppingly gorgeous, they have always given major relationship goals to their admirers.
The Game of Thrones star got married to Bonet in 2017. They share two children — daughter Lola Iolani, 12, and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha, 10. Bonet is also mom to daughter Zoë Kravitz, 30, with ex Lenny Kravtiz, and Momoa is close to both, reports People.
The 40-year-old actor is now a quintessential family man who loves to spend time with his wife and children. He has also never considered their age gap a hurdle in their heartwarming love story. The 51-year-old actress who came out of a broken marriage wanted to heal first and never expected love to come knocking at the door of her heart. But when it came, it settled in for good and made her feel everything she is and more.
More than being in love, Momoa is extremely grateful for having Bonet as his wife. He cherishes her and celebrates her being. This is a man for a strong woman, who appreciates her strength and persona rather than be intimidated and jealous of it. Being the husband of Lisa Bonet is an accomplishment for Game of Thrones' Khal Drogo. And he believes that when you are truly in love, nothing is impossible.
"If someone says something isn't possible," Momoa told Esquire, "I’m like, 'Listen here, I married Lisa Bonet. Anything is f—ing possible.'"
